Their performances in the past two weeks will be crucial in determining who among the 16 finalists of GMA-7's reality superstar search, Are You the Next Big Star, will belong to the tilt's first batch of weakest contenders. The names of the three boys and three girls who received the lowest scores from the judges will be announced this Saturday, July 4, after Pinoy Records.
Two weeks ago, when the girls had their chance to step on the big stage following the announcement of the "Circle of 16," Frencheska Farr, the 16-year old stunner from Las Piñas, emerged as the "best female performer" while Christine Allado, the 18-year old theater actress from QC was voted as the worst. The choices for the best and the worst performers were based on the scores given by the judges and the jury, which was, at that time, composed of the male contenders.
Then last Saturday, June 27, the boys and girls switched places. The female contenders played jury while the boys performed. Geoff Taylor, Anton Cruz, and Jay Perillo were among the favored ones for that particular night. But in the end, Geoff, the 23-year old model from Cagayan Valley, earned the distinction of being the "best male performer" while the 18-year old, PJ Gonzales, was declared as the worst.
However, the jury's vote will not affect the over-all scores of the contenders as the final verdict will still come from the 5 judges: Danny Tan, Mon Faustino, Annie Quintos, Randy Santiago, and Pops Fernandez.
Most of the contestants received props for their noticeably high morale and stronger determination, not to mention, their new looks befitting each one's personality and style of singing. This Saturday, July 4, their first group performance will be witnessed before the "big announcement."
Find out who among the "Circle of 16" will be on the verge of elimination and will ultimately vie for the viewing public's votes. Are You the Next Big Star, hosted by Regine Velasquez together with Keempee de Leon, airs this Saturday after Pinoy Records on GMA-7.
