"Ang ganda ng vibe ng studio ngayon kasi parang every time we see each other, mayroong reward, mayroong good news. Kasi kami sa set we're very professional but then walang nagsisigawan sa set, cool na cool lang. I can say it's very ideal," says Ryan Agoncillo about working for the TV5 talent show Talentadong Pinoy.

Prinamis ko pati yung audience e...We don't get to this point often. We're just really lucky to get this point.

Kasi yung grupo namin Philippine Idol pa, e. Small lang yung expectations namin. We wanted to break double digits, which we did in Philippine Idol once. And then when we did with Talentadong Pinoy. It is a very humble expectation, double digits lang.

"When we first cut into double digits, okay, pero walang advertisers pa. Tapos from there... so, may advertisers na, steadily nagpi-15, 16. Of course, happy. Ang ganda ng vibe ng studio ngayon kasi parang every time we see each other, mayroong reward, mayroong good news. Kasi kami sa set we're very professional but then walang nagsisigawan sa set, cool na cool lang. I can say it's very ideal. Hindi naman kasi lahat ng set nabibigyan ng ganung pagkakataon na masaya ang set and doing well sa ratings, di ba?"

ADVANTAGE OVER COMPETITORS.

"Alam mo yung ano... lahat tayo may talent, di ba? Kahit nag-iinuman, mayroon kang barkada who will try to do a trick or two, and that usually last a minute and a half, di ba? Halimbawa, we are in a family gathering, remember when we were kids papatayuin tayo sa lamesa, pasasayawin tayo, pakakantahin. I think, we just want to be entertained in whatever way possible. And that's what Talentadong Pinoy shows: the talent of entertaining the Filipino in whatever way. Kung isa-shock ka or it's a genuine talent like playing an instrument, or singing or dancing or doing acrobatics.

"Like our recent Hall of Famer, si Yoyo Tricker, para yan yung mga batang, halika dito iho, perform for tito and tita. And I guess, it extends through media. Kasi ano ba naman yung pinaka-powerful nating... I mean apart from the government, ano ba yung pinaka-powerful entity sa Pilipinas, it's really entertainment. And that's what Talentadong Pinoy presents. It's pure entertainment for at least one minute and a half per Talentado and then you get judged. Plus of course, yung pera involved. Ang gusto lang nila, I have a unique talent, if I can make 50 thousand pesos out of it, and then I would do it.

Tapos tatawagin yung kasama, ‘Halika dito ipakita mo yung talent mo.' And really, it ranges from one to two minutes yung talent na ipinapakita nila.

Because in Talentadong Pinoy, we don't encourage using yung halimbawa mayroon tayong contestant na may kapansanan or unlucky in career or money. While we don't encourage na gamitin yung kapansanan or kahirapan to get the sympathy of the judges, you have to be sensistive also to their situation.

"Kasi like we have this kid na bulag, you don't have to be sad for him kasi hindi siya malungkot sa sarili niya, e. So, you have to judge on how you talk. Maybe chat with him before the show. Or you just let it be habang naiintindihan niya, habang yung mga judges kinukutya or pini-praise yung performance niya. You have to put it objectively.

"Doing that eight times (for eight contestants) per show sharpens yung sensitivity mo. Kasi wala namang sasalo and I don't have a long term relationship with them, unlike sa Philippine Idol na week in, week out kasama ko sila, so may pondo kang relationship. So, medyo kailangan sharp yung pakiramdam mo.

"Halimbawa, yung champion tinalo yung grupo tapos nalugmok, nalungkot. Kailangan balensado ka. You have to remind them na hindi laging talagang talo kasi the mere fact na umakyat ka sa stage may limang libo ka na e. So, you passed the auditions, may limang libo ka na. Basta tumapak ka sa stage, whether na-buzz ka three times ng talent scouts at napagsarhan ng kurtina o hindi, you get five thousand pesos. Walang luhaan. Tapos nanalo ka for the day, you get ten thousand. So, even if you don't beat the champion, you're still ten thousand richer," salaysay pa ni Ryan.

ORIGINAL CONCEPT.

"Yes, we are not a franchise. Orig ito ng TV5. But in as far as the pioneering aspect is concerned, what we concerned ourselves with is yung merit ng show kung ano ang meron. Kailangan genuine yung talent. Kailangan yung kukunin naming talent scouts kailangan respetado. Kailangan may say talaga. These are the aspects of the show that we tried to fix, we tried to make pulido."

"Like what I said, wala namang original na talent show. If you'll look for original talent shows, we're talking about Shakesperean times pa siguro. But ang amin kasi, what we always think about sa set, we would ano... kasi hindi kami franchise kaya we don't have a bible to copy. We don't have guidelines set for us.

"The director si Direk Rich [Ilustre], the writer si Paolo [Bustamante], my self and the rest of the people on the floor, naaalala ko the first few months that we were taping, nag-a-adjust pa kami and we keep on saying, we wouldn't be able to pull off a smooth Talentadong Pinoy, kung hindi namin pinagdaanan yung Philippine Idol.

"Kasi a franchise teached us how to maximize yung mga anggulo, kung ano yung dapat sabihin, kung ano yung dapat tipirin. So, yun ang knowledge gained from our Philippine Idol experience that we bring in to Talentadong Pinoy. So, it's that kind of level. Hindi yung basta makapasa lang. Kami, we imbibed the standards of a franchise. So, yun ang nakakatuwa and sanay na sanay kami. Kasi yung pressure sa Philippine Idol, grabe yung resources put into it. So, we took the best that we can learn from that experience.

But then, it only goes as far as that."

But then, that's when you have to respect your talent scouts. That's why we get only those who are capable of judging them. And then yun namang jury, careful din yung process ng pamimili kasi they should reflect din the taste of the viewers. I think isa rin yun sa magandang ano... that maybe is also one of the secrets, yung jury namin hindi kami nakikialam talaga. There are times hindi kami agree sa pinanalo nila, pero wala e, ginawa namin silang jury, sila yung sa tingin namin ay market core ng TV5, e yun ang desisyon nila, so we give in. That may also be the reason kung bakit patok sa ratings."

Ano ang plano nila to maintain yung mataas na ratings?

"I don't know. But as of now hindi pa nauubusan ng ideas sina Direk, and the staff, it really looks good for us.

Lahat ng sa tingin namin malakas na natalo lang by point ganito, point ganyan, they're coming back to compete again and have the chance to win Talentadong Pinoy this time."
