In the September 29 episode of Survivor Philippines Palau, the castaways are eagerly anticipating the merging of the two tribes. But will it actually take place?
After winning the reward challenge, the Koror tribe brought their fast-food feast back to their camp. All of them helped out to prepare the burger. Some lit the fire for the grill; others arranged the condiments and ingredients.
Amanda excitedly pointed out, "We rejoiced parang wow!
Meanwhile, Jef is all the more thrilled as she recalls how Marvin took her hand as the team swam together towards the puzzle box.
Zuki : "Ang galing mo."
Jef : "Na-touch ako sa ginawa ni Marvin."
Zuki : "Kinilig ka?"
Jef : "'Di ko inexpect. Kasi noong nag-swim kami, sabay kami nagswim hinawakan niya kamay ko."
"Na-touch ako, sobrang na touch ako sa ginawa ni Marvin kasi ang ineexpect ko noon is mag-isa lang ako magsu-swim on my own again. Hindi naman ako nag-expect ng any assistance from them e, ang alam ko kasi, kanya-kanya. Tapos parang a-assist na lang nila ko pagdating sa huli, so nagulat ako noong at that time, tinulungan niya pa rin ako. Tapos siyempre alam ko kung gano kahirap ng meron kang ina-assist mag-swim, so mabigat ‘yun on his part," Jef said.
TARA'S DEFENSE. At the Airai Camp, Tara explained why she failed to accomplish the challenge.
"Noong nandito na kami sa camp, walang nagsasalita sa ‘min hanggang sa daldal na nang daldal si Tara, pinagtatanggol iyong sarili niya," observed Charles.
Tara : "Like I disappoint you guys. Hindi ko rin alam kung bakit nahirapan akong ipasok iyon. Like it's not hard for me to swim either, kaya ko mag-stay longer dun but the thing lang na hindi ko mapasok-pasok."
Mika : "Hindi, mahirap talaga like even ako iyong una, like it won't fit, you know."
Tara : "Naabutan ko pa siya doon like, lahat ng nakuha ko mahirap, iyong starfish, iyong jelly, so like I have to you know. Like for Jef it was easy for her to like go on top and do it."
Mika : "Yeah, that's okay. You know what, isipin mo na lang we have a nice bed, may kutson pa tayo, meron pa tayong poncho, puwede pa tayong mag-ihaw. May pagkain pa tayo."
Charles: "Hindi, top 10 ang ano ngayon."
Mika : "Hindi."
Tara : "Naniniwala pa rin ako, there's always like top 10."
"Sa nangyaring challenge na iyon, parang the thing lang is parang ako lang iyong may kasalanan. I don't wanna give up thinking about it like it just makes me worried lang to think na ayoko kasing masisi and all and everything. We're just all depressed nga hindi kami makakain, hindi namin nakain iyong pizza, hindi makain iyong hamburger," Tara stated.
But for Cris, Tara saying sorry would not make any difference.
"Humingi siya ng sorry. Sorry, e, kesyo...mahirap kasing humingi ng sorry ‘pag nandoon ka na, e. Dapat, di ba, kung ginawa mo yung [best] dapat hindi ka hihingi ng sorry," Cris said.
TARA BREAKS DOWN. Later, the members of Airai discussed once again the merger. The tribe has long been itching for the merge, since their number is already dwindling down and they could no longer beat Koror on any challenge. Tara was insistent that there's still going to be a merging of tribes, but Charles and Mika believed otherwise.
Tara : "Naniniwala pa rin akong may merge na mangyayari and may feast."
Charles: "Last year top 18, kaya sampu, ngayon top 8 siguro."
Tara : "Hindi nga, top 10 talaga iyon."
Mika : "Tara, if there was top 8 it would have happened today, e top 8, top 10, wala. Wala nang merge. E, di whatever. We just have to go with the flow kung ano'ng mangyayari."
For Mika, it would be disappointing if there would be no merging of the tribes. She believed that the only way to test her personal strength is during individual challenges.
"Iyong worst part para sa akin is like hindi mo mapapakita kung ano ‘yung talaga worth mo like what you're really made of. Hindi mo makikita kung hanggang saan ka talaga kasi pag team, it's still a team effort, you know. It's like helping everyone out, kung walang merge, madidisappoint talaga ako," Mika said.
But for Tara, it seems that the merge would almost bring their tribe salvation after three of their valuable items were already taken by the Koror tribe during their previous reward challenge. Tara broke into tears as she shared her predicament.
Alam kong makakakain pa rin kami, I mean we're here. Okay lang naman hindi
kumain pero nakaka-depress lang kasi na you're waiting for something, it's not
happening, pero like, yeah, mahirap. I can stay longer I still wanna stay longer
kasi nga ayoko kasing ganito naiinis na akong, I don't wanna wait.
BURGER BINGE. Back at the Koror Camp, everyone enjoyed two servings of burger—complete with thick patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mustard, and mayonnaise. Each castaway seemed to have his/her own way of munching the first burger in 19 days. Suzuki and Echo overloaded their burgers with all the sauce they could pour. Amanda took her time, relishing every layer of the burger. Meanwhile, Marvin took all the vegetables he could eat after Jef gave her leafy greens to him.
But the tasty treat could probably not surpass what Jef felt that day.
Jef : "Kasi, he saved my life!"
Jef : "Hindi mo nakita?"
Paglingon ko sabi niya, 'Jef, Jef, hold my hand, we'll swim together.'"
Jef : "Umeffort ang lolo mo, e."
At Isla Purgatoryo, Justine also received the mouth-watering reward that Koror won.
"Pagpunta ko doon sa water source para bang, totoo ba ‘tong nakikita ko, nagha-hallucinate ba ako? Sinampal ko pa nga iyong sarili ko, e, sabi ko masakit, di ako nagigising, ibig sabihin totoo," Justine said.
Justine immediately grilled the patties and ate her burger with so much gusto that she almost forgot to share it with Jumbo. The dog was just patiently staring at her. Finally realizing her mistake, Justine apologized and gave the last bite to her loyal companion. Jumbo gladly accepted the tasty treat.
DAY 20. Meanwhile, on the campsite of Airai, Cris made use of their shovel to cut the bamboo and to start the flint, in place of the bolo they lost. They also used the medicine box as their cooking pot. Meanwhile, the rest of the team still talked about the possible merger. Tara even calculated the days versus the number of castaways left.
SAVING CHARLES. At the Koror Camp, Marvin suggested to Echo to give the immunity bracelet to Charles, in case they would win again the next immunity challenge.
Echo : "Kung magkaron man ng immunity ngayon, tribe-tribe pa, I think, tatanggalin nila either Tara or Charles. Iyong bracelet, gusto ko ibigay kay Charles."
Marvin : "Naisip ko nga eh bakit parati natin binibigay kay Cris? Si ano naman nagsasabi niyan eh, si Shaun, naisip ko baka may alliance sila ni Cris."
Echo : "Ako naman gusto ko lang makasama si Cris, I would rather have Cris than Louie."
Echo said that Marvin would want to save Charles because he still has the Koror blood in him. She also believed that perhaps Shaun was up to something for constantly suggesting Cris to be saved from the tribal council.
Later, something else caught Echo's attention and it was Suzuki's stinky cap. Suzuki admitted that he is already as stinky as his cap, but he insisted that everybody else already smells awful.
POOR JEF. While the tribemates of Koror were enjoying their meal of "butbot with dip," Marvin noticed something about Jef's attitude.
Shaun : "Palaging may mas."
Marvin : "Ikaw iyong very, very poor me, ‘yung poor me everything parang kawawa ako, ako ‘yung kawawa. You're a poor me, you're a poor me, you're such a poor me."
Jef : "Hindi."
Marvin even mentioned a book that he read that describes what a "poor me" person is. Jef took offense by what Marvin said about her.
"Na-offend ako sa sinabi ni Marvin. What if nagpapaka-humble lang ako that time, na ayoko lang siyempre everyone's nada-down, ayoko lang isipin na maganda pa rin ako, di ba? Kasi iyong pagkakasabi n'ya hindi 'siguro poor me ka,' hindi ganun e, ang dating is ‘wala, poor me ka' parang ni-label n'ya na ‘ko agad na ganoon, so hindi talaga ‘ko natuwa," Jef admitted.
But for Marvin, he was just looking after Jef's wellbeing.
"Hindi ko alam kung ma-take niya, ma-offend siya pero para sa akin parang minsan kailangan kong sabihin sa tao kung ano iyong observation ko. Hindi ko mapigil. Even if ma-offend siya, hopefully later on kung mabasa niya ‘yung book makita niya, ‘uy tama pala siya. May tama siyang sinabi kahit na may galit siya sa akin, hopefully it will improve her life somehow," Marvin stated.
Is a "lovers' quarrel" brewing on the island, perhaps?
Back at the Airai Camp, Cris figured in an accident. A rock fell on Cris's foot in the forest and left him wounded.
Charles was concerned because he knew that Cris already had four operations on his injured foot.
Later, Charles was already conceding if he would not make it to the merger. But Mika firmly said that they should just do their best in the immunity challenge ahead.
