Based on figures from AGB Nielsen Philippines, GMA Network led in Mega Manila TV ratings for all weekdays of February. This was announced through a press release issued by the corporate communications department of GMA-7.
According to the said report, GMA-7 posted an average weekday audience share of 39.1% in February 2010, up by 1.4 percentage points versus ABS-CBN’s 37.7 %. Moreover, partial March data (available until March 14; with March 7 to 14 based on overnight ratings) showed GMA-7 ahead overall with an average audience share of 36.2%, up by 0.4 percentage point against ABS-CBN’s 35.8 %.
The continued success of GMA-7 in viewer-rich Mega Manila is attributed to the steady performance of its primetime programs in TV ratings. Based on AGB Nielsen’s 2010 TV household population projections, Mega Manila TV households now comprise 55% of the National Urban Philippines TV population and are generated from a bigger panel of 800 TV households.
Viewers can expect a stronger line-up of GMA Network shows on primetime and other daytime shows in the coming months, as the Kapuso station is set to launch new programs within the quarter.
Including TV specials, GMA Network programs figured strongly in the overall top 30 list for the period March 1 to 14, with fourteen Kapuso shows making it in the said roster.
Manny Pacquiao’s latest fight against Joshua Clottey topped all programs, while the Kapuso Network’s two primetime fantasy series, Panday Kids and The Last Prince, led by the Aljur Abrenica-Kris Bernal love team, were also in the top 5.
GMA Network’s banner newscast 24 Oras got the highest rank among all news programs as it landed 6th on the list of top 30 overall programs. 24 Oras had an average rating of 27.4 points, ahead of rival TV Patrol World’s 25 points.
New primetime series Diva, starring Regine Velasquez, also landed a spot in the Top Ten list, according to the Kapuso report.
