Iza Calzado and Chef Jeremy Favia host Q Channel 11’s Healthy Cravings


Former Ka-Toque Lutong Barkada Chef Jeremy Favia and actress-host Iza Calzado will feature three healthy recipes—two main course dishes and one dessert—while highlighting the nutritional value and health benefits of each vegetable or fruit ingredient weekly via Q Channel 11’s Healthy Cravings.


Encouraging the public to incorporate a healthy diet is what actress-host Iza Calzado and former Ka-Toque Lutong Barkada resident Chef Jeremy Favia aim to do with their new show. Titled Healthy Cravings, this cooking show will air every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. on Q Channel 11.

"Because if you notice, sa dinami-dami ng gulay sa paligid natin ’pag pumunta ka sa mga party, they rarely serve vegetable dishes. It’s usually adobo, lechon, paksiw, liempo, crispy pata," observed Iza during a lunch interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the entertainment press held at the Manila Orchidarium last March 13.

With Healthy Cravings, Iza and Jeremy offer practical steps to viewers on how to add more vegetables and fruits in their daily diet. Part of the challenge faced by the two hosts is to shatter longstanding misconceptions about meatless dishes.

Jeremy pointed out that being vegetarian is not entirely about consuming plain tofu and leafy products. Preparing a healthy dish can also be fun and exciting given the right preparation.

"Simple lang ’yong alam nating mga Pilipino sa pag-prepare ng gulay. Gusto namin ng something extraordinary, ’yong hindi masyadong madalas nating pine-prepare... May ginawa kaming episode na traditional Pinoy dishes without the meat like adobo na ginawa naming vegetarian, may lumpiang sinigang na kung saan ni-wrap namin ’yong mga gulay sa wrapper tapos binake namin sa oven and then ’yong broth nung sinigang dun siya isasawsaw," explained Jeremy.

Though the dishes featured are not the common fare usually served at home, Iza assured that viewers won’t have a hard time preparing the recipes themselves.

"All of the ingredients are easily available in the supermarkets. Minsan what we do is okay you can use this kasi mas madali mo siyang makita or we give you an option, we try to give you an option of using of what ingredients to use," mentioned Iza.

Aside from featuring yummy dishes composed of fruits and vegetables, the show likewise presents ways on how an individual can stick to his diet plan even in places and confronted by situations where food choices are limited.

The show will also invite celebrity guests to help propagate the value of eating healthy. Head writer Larry De La Cruz said, "We try not to make our topics or themes too specific. Because ang pinaka-goal talaga ng show na ’to is para sa lahat ng C, D na viewers who want to eat healthy and para mabigyan sila ng idea how to cook vegetables, hindi lang ’yong puro chopsuey, puro pakbet. It’s not very hard to find celebrity guests kasi almost everybody na tanungin mo, they want to be healthy."

Some of the celebrity guests who previously graced the show include Mr. Fu of Tweetbiz, Francine Prieto, and Maritoni Fernandez.
