Shenna Halili will do drama in Lenten special Tanikala: Ang Ikalawang Libro

"From start to finish, I’m crying. The project really takes so much of your energy. But with the Lord’s help, I was able to do the role well—or so says my director," says Sheena Halili about her Maundy Thursday offering, Tanikala: Ang Ikalawang Libro .

StarStruck alumna Sheena Halili is known for her comedick sidekick roles in the past. But this Holy Week, she will show her dramatic skills in GMA-7’s special Lenten presentation titled Tanikala: Ang Ikalawang Libro to be shown on Maundy Thursday (April 1).

The said project, which is produced by The 700 Club Asia, will showcase Sheena’s rarely seen dramatic chops as an actress. More identified as a comedienne who bank on her innate kikay personality, doing drama according to Sheena was a challenge she found daunting at first.

In Tanikala: Ang Ikalawang Libro, Sheena will assume the role of Jenny. Though it may sound odd for a Lenten presentation, the special is actually a drama mixed with horror.

So, diyan sa story po nay an makikita po ng viewers kung paano na-overcome ni Jenny ’yong bad spirit," Sheena said in an intimate press conference held recently at the GMA Network Center in Quezon City.

Sheena, who is a proud Christian, said that while pulling off drama scenes was an achievement, the essence of the project bears more meaning to her than anything else.

"I’ve been looking for a way to give something back to our Lord," Sheena seriously mentioned.

Possessing a strong faith, likewise, broaden Sheena’s outlook both in her personal life and career. In fact, constantly playing supporting roles doesn’t bother her as much as it used to in the past.

Catch Tanikala: Ang Ikalawang Libro on Maundy Thursday, April 1, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on GMA-7.
