This June, ABS-CBN remakes yet another cinematic classic and gives it the de luxe treatment on television, featuring the reunited love team of Anne Curtis and Oyo Sotto. Fall in love all over again with Star Cinema’s romantic movie of 1993, May Minamahal, as it graces Sineserye.
Following her stellar portrayal as the liberated Celine in the hit teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man, Anne will continue to amaze viewers with this Sineserye, which premieres today, June 4.
For his part, Oyo—who is the son of Vic Sotto and Dina Bonnevie—has made a name for himself as a promising actor in the industry. Aside from being a regular in Komiks Presents: Pedro Penduko at mga Engkantao, and his stint on Love Spell: Sweet Sixty, and now in this lead role in Sineserye, the young actor proves that he is a true Kapamilya.
Despite having been paired up in movies and being a couple off-screen, it’s the first time that Oyo Boy and Anne will work together in a teleserye. In separate interviews, Oyo Boy admitted that Anne was his first love, and Anne also recalled her fondest memories with her first serious boyfriend. Will sparks fly once again for the two, now that they’re both unattached, and working together in May Minamahal?
The hit movie May Minamahal was directed by Jose Javier Reyes, and featured then-real life sweethearts Aga Muhlach and Aiko Melendez. This time, as ABS-CBN recreates this romantic comedy, taking the role of Aga as Carlitos is Oyo. His former real-life sweetheart Anne plays the role of Monica, Aiko’s character in the 1993 blockbuster film.
As the story goes, Monica Fernandez grows up in a male-dominated household. Her witty and free-spirited attitude catches the attention of Carlitos Tagle. He, on the other hand, lives in a female-dominated household, where everyone depends on him. Monica and Carlitos become close and start to fall in love. Little do they know that their respective family ties would make or break their budding relationship.
Sineserye’s remake of the film will follow the plot of the movie, but will add more twists and conflicts to the story. Directed by Gilbert Perez and Ruel Naval, the TV version of May Minamahal will also include a powerhouse cast led by Cherie Gil, Jaclyn Jose, John Arcilla, Al Tantay, Baron Geisler, Dimples Romana, Michelle Madrigal, and Angeli Urquico.
May Minamahal will air after Pangako Sa ’Yo on ABS-CBN from Monday to Friday at 6 p.m., starting June 4.
