Anatomy of a Disaster series tackles fire fighting and volcanic eruptions in upcoming episodes

Richard Gutierrez hosts Anatomy of a Disaster, which airs weeknights on GMA-7. The two remaining episodes will feature fire fighting and volcanic eruptions.

"GMA Network’s Anatomy of a Disaster was well-received by televiewers in its first of a one week series last night. The Richard Gutierrez-hosted documentary featured earthquakes to give viewers a better understanding of the recent disasters that struck New Zealand and more recently, Japan. He also touched on the veracity of the rumored incoming big earthquake in the Philippines and suggested tips on how Filipinos can prepare for the worst.

"Anatomy of a Disaster will be shown from March 22 to 25 over the Kapuso Network primarily to instill a sense of awareness and responsibility to the viewers when faced with natural calamities. The timely airing of the program aims to inform and educate Filipinos of the various natural disasters that have struck nations all over the globe, after the unfortunate earthquake and tsunami double disaster which hit Japan earlier this month.

"Anatomy of a Disaster fared well in its first night of the one week special with an average household program rating of 20.9% in Mega Manila beating Imortal and Green Rose of ABS-CBN, which rated 19.1 and 13.5% respectively, based on overnight ratings data from the more widely recognized industry ratings supplier Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

"The March 22 episode zeroes in on flood paths, one of the more familiar and widespread calamities in the country. As Richard revisits his experiences during typhoon Ondoy, the episode will also present some of the most catastrophic floods recorded in history.

"Volcanoes were then tackled last night, March 23. The episode features the different types of volcanoes, types of explosions and its ensuing effects to the community. Richard travels to the foot of Mt. Pinatubo and vividly narrates its catastrophic explosion through eyewitness accounts.

"In the episode about urban inferno, which will air on Thursday, March 24, Richard seeks advice from a fire fighting expert on what to do during unfortunate fire incidents. Since we are presently observing fire-prevention month, AOAD reminds viewers to be extra cautious as it presents the most devastating fires in recent times.

"Finally, on Friday March 25, the scorching heat of magma will be discussed on the show. Know the devastating impact of some of the world’s largest and most destructive volcanic eruptions, and how to survive in such devastating times. Richard also embarks on a dangerous journey in Taal Volcano, which at the time of his visit was at alert level 1.

"Be sure to catch Anatomy of a Disaster on GMA Telebabad every night this week after The Baker King."
