A tale about true love and acceptance will be brought to life anew on GMA-7. Blusang Itim, a popular ’80s movie starring Snooky Serna and Richard Gomez, aims to weave its magic this time on television.

Exciting twists will be revealed in the new TV version of the movie. Some of the highlights include the story behind Jessa’s disfigured face, her dreams of becoming a designer and how the mysterious "Blusang Itim" will affect her life.

Kylie Padilla portrays Jessa, the character originally portrayed by Snooky Serna. Newcomers Frank Magalona, son of the late Master Rapper Francis Magalona, and Wynwyn Marquez play plum roles in the teleserye. Frank is Angelo, a famous model, while Wynwyn plays her first contravida character named Vicky. Carl Guevarra, on the other hand, is cast as Melchor, Jessa’s childhood friend who is in love with her despite her physical appearance.

In a recently held press conference for Blusang Itim, director Jay Altarejos was asked what changes were done in the TV version compared to the original movie version.

What were his impressions while directing the new stars in the teleserye?

So fresh yung attack sa mga roles nila at mababait pa sila ngayon," Direk Jay said jokingly.

Then he remarked seriously, "Mukha naman po promising. Especially nga po napaka-raw nila. Wala po sila mannerism. Very fresh pa rin ang mga itsura."

The next question was aimed at Kylie, one of the daughters of action star Robin Padilla. Does she have any sibling rivalry with older sister Queenie Padilla?

The young actress clarified, "Wala po kaming ganoon. Kasi, siyempre, we grew up together... hindi po...para mag-away kami...I’ll be proud of her pag nagkaroon siya ng project. She’s proud of me. Never kami magkakaroon ng rivalry."

Do these young actors think that they can equal or achieve greater success in showbiz compared to their parents?

Frank Magalona said, "I don’t wanna touch that [issue]...Daddy ko talaga icon na talaga siya. He’s a legend. I have the greatest respect for my dad. I just pick up stuff from his past work.

Did he attend any workshop?

The young Magalona disclosed, "Actually ang acting experience ko sa Ateneo before... Yun po ang pinaka-initial ko sa pag-arte. And then noong nakuha ko ang part na ito, pinag-workshop po kami...I just have fun sa taping."

What were the reactions of Wynwyn’s parents when she got a contravida role? How did she prepare for the role?

As for her preparation for this role, Wynwyn revealed, "Ang preparations po, kaming magkakasama workshops po.

Do they think that this teleserye will duplicate the success of the movie?

Direk Jay simply said, "I cannot assure you of anything except that we are working hard for this. We’re giving our best...wala pong assurance sa mundo, sabi nga nila."

Blusang Itim airs right after Eat Bulaga! on GMA-7’s Dramarama sa Hapon.
