GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon was conferred the Most Outstanding Manilan Medallion of Honor by the city government of Manila for practicing social responsibility in broadcast. Gozon, the only broadcast executive in the roster of 10 awardees this 2011, was cited for "espousing objectivity" in television station GMA Network.
Aside from Gozon, other media executives honored were Dr. Emilio Yap III, Manila Bulletin executive vice president for advertising; and Miguel Belmonte, Philippine Star president and chief executive.
The other awardees are: Justice Andres Reyes for judicial administration; Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco Sr. for diplomacy and corporate leadership; Police Gen. Raul M. Bacalzo for public service and law enforcement; Nina Lim Yuson for culture values formation; Andrew Tan for business entrepreneurship and management; and Fr. Jose Arcilla (SJ) for education and history.
For the last 31 years, the City of Manila has been conferring the Outstanding Manilans Medallion of Honor to those who were born, lived, or studied in the city and whose achievements in their chosen profession or vocation have contributed to the development and promotion of Manila.
