Derek Ramsay has already hosted a few TV programs in the past, but he considers The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition as the most fulfilling hosting job he has ever done so far.
The Kapamilya actor said that this reality show that is really close to his personality.
"That’s so me, favorite project I’ve ever had," he related to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview after the press conference of his latest auto loan endorsement with East West Bank yesterday, September 2.
"You know, I love working [for Biggest Loser]. I get to do the things that I love and I get to motivate people and help people change their lives."
As the game master of the show, Derek often meets the contestants to explain the rules of the challenges.
"I’ve been very close to the contestants," he said.
Although he had to maintain professional distance from challengers, Derek admitted that it was hard not to build personal relationships with them.
"It’s hard because you have to stay away, e. You have to be professional. It’s almost impossible not to get emotional.
"You’ll see in the later episode of Season 1, magbi-breakdown din ako.
"Hindi ko nakayanan because it’s such a wonderful feeling na you’re helping them change their lives. From Day 1, I saw them when they’re at their worst like, 480 pounds. Then, you see them [improved]."
As the game master of the show, Derek also feels a certain fulfillment when he sees positive changes in the contestants.
In fact, he got excited when he narrated what viewers can expect in the coming episodes of Biggest Loser.
"The best part is their last challenge, they’ll do it on their own outside of the camp.
"Definitely, the goal of the whole show is they learn the discipline, to give importance to themselves with their regular schedule. So, even when they’re outside the camp, they’re losing weight pa rin."
Derek’s experience in Biggest Loser made him wish he will still be the host of its second season.
"I’m looking forward to that," he said. "You know, if that’s the only [program] given to me, I’ll be very happy, more than happy, because it’s so me."
