"I talked with the ASAP staff, e. I said, 'why is that we rate so high when a tragedy takes place and I'm asked to come on stage to give some words of encouragement, and if I can pray, I pray, then I'll sing an inspirational song.
"'Di ba ang taas ng rating natin no'n? Then why do we have to wait for a tragedy to take place? So, why don't we do that, [but] not all the time?'
"I don't have to go out and pray all the time. There are certain ways to let people know na we're not only there to entertain.
"We wanted to reach out to people and so they took on to that.
"Then sabi nga ni, one of the higher ups, 'sa bagay, 'yong mga shows natin sa ABS are truly values oriented shows that become more valuable and rate a lot,' mga 100 Days To Heaven, Ikaw ang Pang-ibig, Budoy. So, sabi ko, 'we already have the tools, e.'
"We have the tools that could really give a different kind of impact that people watch, sabi nila, 'sige lets try it.'
"So, that's the concept, it's a segment now.
"It's quite powerful that one of the staff members said, 'gosh! It could be a show on its own.'"
INSPIRATIONAL STORIES.
Ilan sa mga ito'y 'Take Me Out Of The Dark,' 'I Will Be Here,' at 'Warrior Is A Child.'
"So, we had our first endeavor on that portion two weeks ago, wherein we go visit a couple, an old couple, I think you guys know this—that lady who has the picture of her husband at the back of her shirt, hinanap si lolo because her husband has Alzheimer's disease.
"She just had the picture in the front and the back [of her shirt] and she [just sat down]. E, a photographer took a picture and thought that it's a very moving shot, takes it, put it in Facebook, and it moves to other people and they actually find him under a bridge.
"So, they called ABS-CBN and said, 'you know, it is the guy you've been looking for.'
"So, I went to their place, I talked to them a bit and found out that they've been married for 53 years. The funny thing was, when the old man saw me he kind of recognized me.
"So, what we did was we had her to come to ABS the next day and I just sang their theme song, 'Ang Tangi Kong Pag-ibig.'"
"It could be about anything," pahayag ni Gary.
"It could be about victory in different ways. Like for example, what if an unexpected school wins a competition, we can celebrate that [with] the people being there.
"I'm tossing ideas lang, ha. They are not celebrating in the 'With Love' segment but with the whole show, they get to see all their favorite artists.
"It could be about anything kasi love is so general, di ba, it doesn't just touch reconciliations.
"Mabigat pero there's always a good thing at the end of it, I don't want to end it with, 'ay, kawawa,' there's enough of that.
"Here, yeah it maybe difficult, it might be heavy but there's something visual, there's something at the end of the rainbow.
"I made sure, I told them, I don't want it to be tipong hardcore na tipong, 'God loves you!' they'll feel that, they'll know that through our actions."
