Angelika dela Cruz claims that she has become paranoid because of the car accident that took place last December 12

Singer-actress Angelika dela Cruz has filed a case of oral defamation and unjust vexation against Mrs. Ma. Lourdes Rivera, the car owner who allegedly badmouthed her. The young actress filed her complaint at the Quezon City fiscal's office last December 14.

It all started on December 12, a day when protest actions were taking place on Commonwealth Avenue, the road leading to Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City. Angelika was on Commonwealth Avenue herself, aboard her Nissan Urvan, when Kristine Cancio—who was driving a Chevrolet Optra—rear-ended the actress's vehicle. The accident led to a series of confrontations between the young actress and the family of the car owner.

During the December 17 episode of The Buzz, the two parties aired their side about the controversial car accident.

"Kami ang naka-atras," admits Kristine, the daughter of Mrs. Ma. Lourdes Rivera. "After nun, nag-stop kami para siyempre tatanungin namin."

When Kristine and her mother got out of her car, Angelika's driver supposedly met them with hostility.

"Sabi niya [Angelika's driver] agad, ‘Anong ginawa mo?' Then bumaba si Angelika. Pagbaba ni Angelika, sabi niyang ganun, ‘Anong problema n'yo, pu***!"

However, according to Angelika, it was the mother and daughter who hurled invectives at them: "Minumura-mura niya ako, sinasabi niya, ‘Artista ka lang!'

The two parties then proceeded to the Quezon City Traffic Enforcement Office but things were still not resolved. The confrontation proved too much for Mrs. Rivera, who had to be rushed to the hospital because her blood pressure shot up.

In her live interview on The Buzz last December 17, Angelika belied reports saying that it was she who hurled swear words at Mrs. Rivera. Angelika declared, "Hindi kami pinalaking ganun. Tsaka siyempre sasabihin namin ‘hindi,' tapos sasabihin nila ‘oo' [nangyari yung murahan].
