Valentine's Day is perhaps one of the most expensive holidays in the Philippines. It's that time of the year when flowers are more expensive than their usual price. Yet, the gentlemen still purchase them to allure their ladies. Of course, couples also flock the restaurants and hotels even if it would cost them an arm and leg.
Whatever they say, there's no stopping Valentine's Day from taking center stage. With that in mind, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) gathered the plans of your favorite celebrities on this very special day.
OUT-OF-TOWN. If you have enough resources, or let's say you've saved enough for Valentine, why not celebrate it away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis? Besides, everyone needs a day off.
Take it from young superstar Judy Ann Santos: "Out of town lang, away from Manila. Most probably sa beach. Last time kasi nung date namin [ni Ryan Agoncillo, her boyfriend] nung Valentine's, very romantic e. Nag-iisip pa ako with my friends."
Comedian-singer-dancer Vhong Navarro seems to have the same thing in mind.
TOO BUSY FOR LOVE? Since Valentine's Day this year falls on a weekday, you may be too busy doing your daily routine. Don't despair though—you are not alone.
The love day is a taping day for John Lloyd Cruz. "I will be taping for Maging Sino Ka Man. Any personal plans, it will remain personal," he says.
Young actor Dennis Trillo also anticipates a hectic schedule.
When asked about possibilities of dating anyone, Dennis replies, "Mga kaibigan, marami naman akong kaibigan e.
Dennis's Super Twins co-star Nadine Samonte has the same mindset.
Bubble Gang mainstay Wendell Ramos has no definite plans yet.
On the other hand, Unang Hirit's Drew Arellano shares his plans with longtime girlfriend Iya Villania: "Titingnan namin kung magkakatugma schedule namin dahil pareho kaming may work e.
TREAT YOUR WIFE. Valentines is high time for husbands to treat their wives. Take it from Eat Bulaga! mainstays Michael V and Jose Manalo.
Michael V shares, "Hindi talaga ako nagwo-work ‘pag Valentine's.
Jose also hardly accepts projects during V-day. He says, "It's time for my wife, and of course, yung family ko.
Former teen idol Jao Mapa has other plans with his wife, Cecile. A dinner date is not enough for Jao. He says, "I want to bring my wife to the spa and go out on a dinner date."
GO OUT WITH FRIENDS. Who says Valentine's day is exclusive to couples? Just because you are single doesn't mean that the V-day is going to be a gloomy day.
Ex-Pinoy Big Brother housemate Say Alonzo will go out with friends. "Date kami ni best dude Uma [Khouny] sa Valentine's kasi pareho kaming single," she says.
Watching a romantic movie just like young actress Glaiza de Castro would not be a bad idea. "Alis lang siguro with friends. Wala naman akong date e. O kaya I'll just see a movie," says Glaiza.
Rounin star Juddha Paolo will also spend his V-day inside a cinema: "Siguro manonood ng sine kasama kaibigan ko. My loved one [Nikki Muller] is across the sea e. Three years na kami. We broke up last month. Actually, wala na kami. Alam ko we're gonna get back together. Deep within my heart, alam kong meant to be kami."
DATE WITH FAMILY. Again, if you don't have a date this coming Valentine's day, you can spend it with the most important people in your life—your family.
"Simple dinner with someone special," says former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Cass Ponti. "Pero so far, wala akong someone special. Siguro, I'd rather spend my Valentine's with with my Mom kasi hindi kami madalas magkasama.
Or you can celebrate the joy of singlehood and reward yourself with things that you can hardly accommodate because of your busy sked.
"Last year, I spent it at home and watched The O.C. Feeling ko ngayon, I will still spend it at home pero Grey's Anatomy na papanoorin ko!" says Wowowee co-host Mariel Rodriguez.
There are a million ways of spending your Valentine's Day. Whatever your plans are, just do it with love.
Happy Valentine's Day!
