Philippines' Next Top Model host Ruffa Gutierrez flashes her trademark smile. Before becoming Miss World Second Princess, she represented the country in the Elite Model Look in New York. Elite Model Look is an international model search that launched the career of Giselle Bundchen, Stephanie Seymour, and Cindy Crawford.


Manila's who's who in fashion were in attendance at Embassy, The Fort last Saturday, March 10. The cause for celebration: to celebrate the launch of Philippines' Next Top Model.

The local franchise of Tyra Banks's America's Next Top Model hosted the party and formally introduced the 14 finalists to the public.

PNTM host, Ruffa Gutierrez, remarked that the show aims to promote the local fashion industry and to search for the model that will represent the country in different fashion events in Asia. She added that it has been a long time since a Filipina is recognized in the international industry.

Ruffa's family—father Eddie Gutierrez, mother Annabel Rama, and siblings Raymond and Richard—attended the event in support of her show.

Local stars like Donita Rose, Bianca King, Assunta de Rossi, Almira Muhlach, and Maricar de Mesa partied the night away with local fashionistas like Tim Yap, Georgina Wilson, Jenni Eperson, Liz Uy, and designer Rajo Laurel.

Ruffa emceed the event together with model Joey Mead.
