Richard Gomez to make final decision tomorrow

Tomorrow will determine Richard Gomez's final decision—is he going to vie for a seat in the senate or congress? The actor has tonight until tomorrow to weigh his options.

At 7:40 this evening, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) interviewed Richard Gomez over the phone and asked him about his final plans for this election.

Earlier, PEP had gotten a report that Richard, better known as Goma, was going to the COMELEC office to formally withdraw from the senatorial race.

The report was fueled by Goma's consistent lackluster showing in surveys of the top senatorial bets. In the latest SWS (Social Weather Stations) survey—released on March 27—he placed 22nd-23rd, sharing the spot with Tessie Aquino-Oreta.

Tomorrow, March 30, is the final day of filing at the COMELEC.

Tonight until tomorrow, he said he will make up his mind. But he admitted, however, that negotiations are underway between him and a party list group, under which Goma may run. If negotiations are sealed, Goma will shift his campaign from a senatorial seat to a congressional seat.

Insiders from Goma's camp said that the tremendous amount of logistics involved in a national senatorial campaign have made the negotiations with a party list group possible. A party list group needs only 500,000 votes to secure one seat in the Lower House. It must be noted that in the party list system, the electorate votes for the party and not the specific candidate.

There are strong reports that the party list group Goma is negotiating with is from the labor sector.
