"My dream din talaga kasi is to put up my own foundation naman na similar sa PAWS, para sa welfare ng animals.... I love din kasi animals, especially dogs!" says Heart Evangelista. PAWS stands for Philippine Animal Welfare Society.

The role requires her to wear prosthetics. "The prosthetics takes about three hours. Pero nasa mukha ko naman siya for about eight hours sa taping namin. Hindi naman ako inaatake ng asthma because of that, pero minsan nakaka-suffocate din. Akala ko, pinakamahirap ko nang nagawa yung Panday. This is tougher," kuwento ni Heart.

Ang kuwentuhan with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ay nangyari sa thanksgiving lunch that Heart hosted for the entertainment press noong April 30.

Pinasasalamatan nga raw niya ang kanyang idol and Hiram Na Mukha co-star, Cherry Pie, for all the encouragement the award-winning actress has been giving her all this time.

"Kaya I like her a lot dahil mabait siya. She shares lahat din ng pinagdaanan niya sa profession niya sa gaya ko. Napansin ko kasi, yung iba, pag medyo siyempre nauna sila sa ‘yo, parang hindi mo sila makakausap to ask for help or any stuff. At yung iba naman, inaabuso din ang pagiging mas mataas nila sa ‘yo. Si Ms. Cherry Pie, binu-boost pa ang morale ko sa set, para mas lalo kong mabigay ang dapat ko pang ibigay sa character ko."

Heart will fly to the US today, May 2, for a series of shows with the APO Hiking Society and Nanette Inventor. Her 10-day stay in the US will also be a breather for her dahil mabibisita niya ang sister niya na sa San Francisco, California nakatira.

"I'm brushing up with the songs I will do for the concert," she said. "Excited din in so many ways, kasi nga, ang APO at si Tita Nanette ang mga kasama ko."

Heart, Nanette, and the APO are scheduled to perform at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on May 5, and at GW Lisner Theater in Washington, D.C.

Iilan lang ang nakakaalam na Heart was a recepient of the Best New Female Recording Artist sa Awit Awards some years back. Napasok din sa Top 18 ng Australian charts ang isang kantang ni-record niya for an independent music company in Sydney. Kaya nga raw isang malaking challenge for her ang makasama sa ilang shows ang mga beteranong performers gaya ng APO at ni Nanette.

"I'm doing din here a lot of mall shows after Manila Genesis Entertainment [her talent management] encouraged me to tap my musical potential. Hilig ko rin naman talaga ang kumanta. Kaya in the days to come, I will also busy myself with doing an album I am co-producing with Genesis. I might be dishing out hits and covers," kuwento pa niya.

And possibly, a song written by her boyfriend, Jericho Rosales?

"Why not? I'm sure he will give me one para masama sa album," says Heart.

PAWS. Nasa agenda rin ni Heart ang pagsuporta niya at pag-e-endorse sa PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Society, Inc.), an organization committed to raising animal abuse awareness as well as upgrading the treatment of animals nationwide.

And I have already talked to the PAWS advocates to help me with that din. They know how I love din kasi animals, especially dogs!" says Heart, who has four dogs.

And speaking of dogs, while chatting with PEP at the Imperial Hall of Imperial Palace Suites, tumatawag kay Heart si Jericho Rosales.

"Apart from the fundraising projects with PAWS, nasa second beat na rin yung aming Heart Can project, which was conceptualized in alliance with the Shining Light Foundation and Genesis. Nakakatuwa kasi I was able to raise P600,000 for the benefit of indigent patients na may pulmonary problems and other medical concerns. And we're set na to donate 200 nebulizers to various pediatric charity wards ng different hospitals, like the PGH [Philippine General Hospital], Lung Center, and many more. So, the Heart Can second beat will happen sometime in June until September," pagbabalita pa ni Heart.

Aside from having her hands full with schedules left and right, and having a young relationship to nurture, marami pang idinadagdag si Heart sa kanyang "to-do" list.

"Kung si Echo, mahilig sa mga pagpaplano, ako naman kasi, I want to get into the thick of things as much as possible. Like sa business. Because nga we always frequent La Union, kung saan kami nagse-surf, I can see the potential of having my own resort there, somewhere in San Fernando, La Union. Tumitingin-tingin na rin kami. Basta gusto ko, ako gagawa lahat—yung conceptualization hanggang sa nakatayo na siya and all that. And eventually, have na rin my own restaurant there," says Heart, whose family owns the Barrio Fiesta chain of restaurants.

Before she boards the plane, Heart is squeezing into her "to-do" list the final chapters of the book she is so engrossed in reading now, Not Even A Hint by John Harris.

"I will sleep all throughout the flight! And if you can watch pala, see this documentary, An Inconvenient Truth by Davis Guggenheim and narrated by [former] US Vice President Al Gore. It's a wake-up call actually," pagrerekomenda pa niya about the docu film that discusses the horrors of global warming.
