John "Sweet" Lapus celebrates Lucky 7 birthday

John "Sweet" Lapus has just turned 34, which in numerology adds up to the essential number 7. His birthday was on 7-7-07 and he works with Channel 7. Feeling lucky with the magic number, he said during his birthday bash, "... there's so many things to celebrate."

"I am 34 years old. Feeling ko I need to celebrate, parang thanksgiving na rin. Pumatak sa 7-7-07 [July 7, 2007 ang birthday ko]! I'm 34, three plus four is seven, tapos I am now with Channel 7! So parang there's so many things to celebrate," said John "Sweet" Lapus during his birthday bash yesterday, July 8, at esQuinita, Quezon City.

Family and close showbiz friends—Direk Joyce Bernal, Direk Wenn Deramas, Beth Tamayo, Aiza Marquez, Paolo Paraiso, Candy Pangilinan, Eugene Domingo, DJ Durano, and Luis Alandy—joined John in celebrating the sweet life.

With a steady hosting stint in Showbiz Central, Sweet revealed that his birthday wish is to have another show on GMA-7.

"I've been following up with GMA-7 about my second show. Wala pa, e, pero sabi naman sa akin, it's on its way. Actually, nag-request ako na sana sitcom kasi sayang naman, parang naging pa akong komedyante if I don't have a sitcom, di ba?" he said candidly.

How about love?

He answered, "That's my wish every year and one time [natupad] with my ex-boyfriend—all bad experiences. I got in trouble. Hindi na dapat wini-wish. Sinabi ko na rin ‘yan sa blog ko. Love life ay kusang dumadating. You don't wish for it. Siguro ‘yan din ang isang reason kung bakit ako nalulungkot minsan. I feel obligated to myself na dapat may boyfriend ka kasi ‘yong mga kaibigan mo meron... Siguro my soulmate would come."

Sweet gave this message to all his supporters:

"To all the Pepsters, maraming maraming salamat for supporting me, especially in my new endeavor as a main host in Showbiz Central in GMA-7.

"To the loyal fans of GMA, maraming salamat at tinangkilik ninyo ako at pinapasok sa inyong telebisyon. I really appreciate it a lot.

"To the Johners, who keep on commenting in my blog ‘Korek Ka John!,' your observations are all true. I am much much more honest in my blog than on television. Siyempre blog ‘yon, autobiography! How I wish I can say that on TV! Siyempre sabihin nila, ‘Si John naman napaka-serious pala nito.' So, sa blog, that's me. No sugar-coating, that's really me!"
