Wilma Galvante, GMA-7 Senior Vice President for Entertainment, spoke her heart and mind in the August 7 press conference for Marimar.

Wilma Galvante, GMA-7 Senior Vice President for Entertainment, gave a personal message instead of speaking on behalf of the network during the press conference of Marimar last night, August 7, at the Studio 3 in GMA-7 compound.

Even before she began her speech, it was obvious that the lady executive wanted to veer away from the latest issue about GMA-7 and Angel Locsin. She started, "You know, I've always spoken on behalf of network. This time I will speak on a personal capacity. I know you want to hear many things from me."

The press thought that Ms. Galvante would say something about the issue but instead she talked about blessings. "Personally, I always believe that everything is a blessing. Everything that happens, for me, that has always been the case for me. Everything that has happened to me is a blessing."

She went on to talk about the hardships that may be experienced by celebrities and how she perceived these. "Hindi ko kasi tinitingnan the issues that come out in your life—the conflict, the pressure, the day-to-day happenings in our work, in our world.

"Hindi ko iyon tinitingnan as barriers, I see it as an opportunity. Nothing is lost, everything is an opening [to] parang something else, something better. That is how I have worked ever since, that has always been my attitude ever since. And it has always been correct for me. It has always been the right attitude, di ba?"

Galvante then shifted her topic to the network's viewers. She reminded celebrities that they should always do their best for their audience. "Everything we do in television is to delight our viewers. They are always... The viewer will always be the boss.

"So kung sino ang gusto niya, kung ano ang gusto niyang makita, kung ano ang makapagpapaligaya sa kanya, at the end of the day, viewer pa rin ang magsasabi kung 'tatanggapin ko ito' at 'hindi ko tatanggapin. Kung sa akin maganda ito, sa akin mabuti ito, o hindi.'"

She further added, "Doon po nanggagaling ang lahat ng drive namin to be able to come up with something good, with something new, with something better all the time."

After her preliminary remarks, Wilma talked about their newest teleserye, Marimar, which will start airing on Monday, August 13. "As I've said, we have more important things to do. This [Marimar] is a very important thing that we have been putting together for you, for our audience."

She described how the casting of Marimar was done. Galvante said, "Casting? Actually, not very difficult because everything just fell into place.

"When we did the audition, lingid sa kaalaman ng mga nag-audition, we were also watching them to be able to pass...I can say now that Bianca [King] auditioned, Katrina [Halili] auditioned for the role of [Marimar]—and many were watching them, ‘Maganda siya sa role na iyon, maganda siya sa role din na ito.' Tama, hindi tayo nagkakamali sa ganito. And I'm very thankful for all those who auditioned.

"Sa akin ang taas ng respeto ko kapag sinabing ‘Could you come to this? Could you audition for this?' Kasi kapag may dumating na artista sa 'yo para ganyang hiningi mo, alam mo seryoso siya, alam mong gusto nila ang gagawin nilang iyon. At pag napili siya, that is a very good reward kasi umpisa pa lang, ginusto na niya."
