Singer-actress Lovi Poe originally used only "Lovi" as screen name, but people kept calling her Lovi Poe, so she decided to carry her famous father's surname.

Daughter of the late King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe Jr. si Lovi Poe. Bagama't naitago noon and only spoken privately, hindi naman ito ikinaila ng parehong kampo nang magdesisyon si Lovi na pasukin din ang mundo ng showbiz, first as a singer and then as an actress. Lovi joined showbiz after her father died.

The Colegio de San Agustin graduate was given a debut album by SonyBMG, Best of My Heart, where it generated several number one songs like "I Love You" and the recent remake of Selena's "Dreaming of You."

Starring in the last season of Love To Love opposite Cogie Domingo, Lovi's biggest break was when she got the plum role of Kristal sa soap opera ni Sunshine Dizon na Bakekang.

May follow-up na ito, ang Zaido (final title ng Shaider version ng GMA-7 na dating Shaido and then Pulis Pangkalawakan) opposite Marky Cielo, na partner din ni Lovi sa Bakekang.

Kahapon ng tanghali, August 8, sa Imperial Hotel, pumirma na rin si Lovi and her manager Leo Dominguez (manager din ni Ogie Alcasid) sa Regal Entertainment for a 12-picture three-year contract. Present during the contract signing were Mother Lily Monteverde and daughter Roselle Monteverde-Teo.

Lovi will now be known as Lovi Poe.

"No, we never had a gap with Tita Susan and we've been very civil to each other," sagot ni Lovi tungkol sa issue.
