Cesar and Sunshine's Bulacan haven

Cesar and Sunshine, when not too busy, manage to come here everyweek. Ironically though, Cesar visits his rest house not to rest but tofix or add things to it. Sunshine—whom Cesar fondly calls Baby or Bi—seems to do all theresting. "Sa kuwarto lang lagi 'yan" says Cesar of his wife of sixyears. "Bigyan mo la ng TV, solved na. Tinuturuan ko nga siyangmagtanim, e, hahawak ba naman lupa 'yan? Tapos sasabihin, 'Ano'nginsekto '

Born to Ilonggos, Cesar Montano—Cesar Manhilot in real life—grew up in Sta. Ana Manila. Thus, he cannot explain why he loves farm life.

"Siguro lamanlupa talaga ako, "chuckles Cesar, the 42-year old actor-director who has recently added producing a film to his many accomplishments.
"Pangarap ko talaga noon pang maliit pa ako, magkaroon ng sariling farm. Mahilig kasi talaga akong magtanim."

He now owns—as far as we know—three farm lands: a 1,400-square-meter spread in Baclayon, Bohol; a 20-hectare property in Iba, Zambales;
and a 2.5-hectare parcel of land in Pandi, Bulacan, which was the site of this pictorial.

"Ito, may naglapit lang sa akin, "he says of his Pandi property, which he bought more than eight years ago. "Nakita ko 'yong sukat ng lote. Di naman kalakihan, tamang tama lang. Sabi ko, 'Ayos. Sige.'"

Being nearest where he lives—it's just a 45-minute drive from Manila—this is the land he is most able to attend to.

"Ang sarap dito sa farm. La hat ng kailangan mo nandito na. Pagkain? Mamitas ka lang. Sa gabi, ang lamig. Ang hangin dito, hindi mo mabibili sa Maynila."

Spoken like a true gentleman farmer.
