Jennylyn Mercado is the latest FHM cover girl

Young actress Jennylyn Mercado is soon to appear on the cover of the country's leading men's magazine, FHM. A sexy pictorial means mature roles in the offing? Well, not really according to Jennylyn.

With her forthcoming sexy FHM cover, is young actress Jennylyn Mercado ready to do sexy roles?

"Hindi naman siguro," Jennylyn told Showbiz Central host Raymond Gutierrez, yesterday, December 9.

"Meron naman akong limitations for myself, for my career. Hindi ako basta-basta tumatanggap ng mga ganoong projects. Siyempre, titingnan ko muna kung okay ba ‘yon o masyadong sexy ba," added Jen.

As revealed during the interview, Jen recently did a photo shoot for the country's leading men's magazine, FHM, last November 29. Boyfriend Patrick Garcia was curiously absent during the shoot, thus making some wonder if Jen's beau disapproved her decision to do a sexy pictorial.

Jen explained Patrick's no-show. "November 29 'yon," she recalled vividly, "yon yung may nangyayari sa [Manila] Peninsula [hotel in Makati]."

Unfortunately, the long traffic jam caused by the standoff initiated by Senator Antonio Trillanes and his military comrades in the hotel takeover left Patrick along with other motorists stranded in their vehicles for hours.

"Noong time na ‘yon, nandoon na siya sa Mandaluyong. Papunta na siya sa pictorial para mag-visit. Hindi na siya nakarating kasi sobrang traffic," said Jen.

According to Jennylyn, the question of whether Patrick is a supportive partner or not is totally irrelevant in the face of such circumstances, which in the first place, was beyond Patrick's control.

"Very supportive si Patrick," defended the young actress without batting an eyelash. She brushed off speculations that the younger brother of Cheska Garcia is a control nut.

"Hindi niya gagawin ‘yon, yung pipigilan niya ako, ‘yong sa mga damit. Trabaho naman ‘yon, e, and alam naman niyang meron akong limitations for myself. Alam ko kung ano 'yong mga dapat kong gawin, siyempre, para irespeto din naman ng mga tao na makakakita noong magazine."

OVER THE BAKOD ISSUE. One of the issues that recently surfaced was Jen's alleged impending transfer to ABS-CBN from GMA-7.

Jen's contract with the Kapuso network will expire next year and talks are getting louder that the crossover is a certainty as early as now. With Jen's manager Becky Aguila falling from the good graces of GMA executives, many are convinced that the controversial talent manager is slowly collecting her wards to put them under ABS-CBN's roof. Becky's other talents Angel Locsin and Valerie Concepcion are now certified Kapamilyas.

When asked about the issue, Jen was honest enough not to give a definite reply.

"Ayoko naming isarado ang door ko pagdating sa mga ganyan," she said, pertaining to her rumored transfer. "Pero hindi. Sa ngayon, hindi pa, malabo pa muna."

But regardless whether there's a shade of truth or none with that, the StarStruck luminary assured her fans and perhaps even critics that she's happy with the way things are going lately for her career.

"After all the trials and everything, ngayon masasabi kong happy ako kasi, kumbaga, hindi naman ako napabayaan ngayon kasi meron naman mga shows—like La Vendetta and may ginagawa akong album," Jennylyn said in closing.
