Dimples Romana has been enjoying her time at home so much that she has actually turned down some offers that would take her away from her family.
Can you believe she has not left home since March 15, the start of the community quarantine?
In an exclusive interview with Bianca Gonzalez for Cinema News At Home Edition via Zoom on June 12, 2020, she reveals, "March 15 hanggang ngayon, di pa rin ako lumalabas ng bahay namin, I'm scared kahit na-lift na yung ECQ [Enhanced Community Quarantine].
"Parang I still want to remain at home as long as I can to keep my family safe."
Dimples has also turned down work because of ABS-CBN's new guideline for tapings: the cast and crew must stay locked in to a certain location while they shoot. This means they are unable to go home to their families for an extended period of time.
It's an arrangement that wouldn't work for them as a couple, as she and husband Boyet Ahmee have always struggled with the idea of a long-distance relationship (LDR).
Dimples explains, "Ang struggle lang is if I begin working outside again, but we have a pact and iba na rin kasi ang normal na taping, di ba?
"Naka-lock in na, e, hirap talaga kami ni Boyet ng LDR, hindi talaga kami puwede sa LDR.
"Nung hindi pa kami mag-asawa, maraming beses na kaming nag-break dahil sa di pagkikita."
Safety also continues to be a concern.
"Ngayon mayroon akong serye na di ko tinanggap kasi medyo maaga iyong tapings, ayaw pa ni Boyet. Parang feeling niya di pa safe, na naiintindihan ko naman.
"Iyong katawan ko naman, iyong pagkatao ko, di naman sa akin lang di ba? Kailangan din nila ako dito sa bahay."
According to the Kapamilya actress, the entire family is trying to stay indoors as much as possible, for their own safety.
Dimples is grateful to be spending time with the entire family during the community quarantine.
Last seen as Daniela Mondragon in the ABS-CBN series Kadenang Ginto, she admits that having one project after another has meant having less time for her family.
And although her husband Boyet is not very expressive, she knows how happy he is to have her home.
"Si Boyet, I'm not sure if I should say, like most husbands is, I'm not sure how it is for others, but Boyet rarely tells me any of his emotions.
"He's not very expressive of his emotions. In fact, in all of us, siya iyong parang laging, hindi naman nahihiya, but more parang iyong tatay na hindi masyado nagsasalita.
"So ngayon, nung mga nakaraang araw, sobrang na-enjoy niya talaga na magkasama kami."
And she revels each time she hears Boyet say, "Alam mo natutuwa ako na lagi kang nandito sa bahay..."
GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER AGAIN
Even if Dimples and Boyet have been married for 17 years, she feels "we're only starting to get to know one another even on a deeper level."
This is because of how much time she is now spending at home, as quarantine measures were implemented to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
"I haven't been home ever since nag-asawa kami ni Boyet. I haven't been at home this long, na ganito kahaba. So ito lang talaga iyong time namin," she says.
The Kapamilya actress also muses on why some couples don't seem to know each other well despite being married for a long time.
"Kaya pala iyong iba, kahit matagal na silang mag-asawa, parang they don't seem to know one another.
"Puwede kasing circumstantial or puwede ring pinili nila na di na muna sila magsama nang matagal or some are OFWs also.
"I'm just really glad that I'm hearing this from Boyet, because, of course, who doesn't want naman to hear that from your spouse, di ba?"
