ABS-CBN teen show "Astigs" ends with two-part special shot in CamSur

The cast of Astigs.

After more than one and a half years on air, three incarnations, four title changes, a change of timeslot, and a lot of cast changes, magtatapos na ang developmental show ng ABS-CBN for its new Star Magic talents, ang Astigs, next month. But the show is making sure it will not go unnoticed.

Nagsimula ang ABS-CBN teen show as a weekly anthology Star Magic Presents at ginawa itong weekly continuing series after one season with a new title, Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv. Dito na-introduce ang Star Magic Batch 13 pati na rin ang first batch ng Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition housemates, anchored by the love team of Shaina Magdayao and Rayver Cruz.

After its first season, some of the original cast were replaced by the incoming Star Magic Batch 15 with another title change, Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv (Ur Lyf 2), as it was moved from Saturday afternoon to Saturday morning.

Another season later, nagbago na naman ng format ang show and with a final title change Astigs.

Next month, Astigs will bid farewell with a two-episode special shot at the CamSur Water Sports Complex sa Villa El Ray, sa pag-aanyaya ng Camarines Sur governor and president of the Governor's League of the Philippines L-Ray Villafuerte.

Kumpleto ang final cast from the originals—Victor Basa, Angelo Patrimonio, AJ Perez, Chris Gutierrez, Dino Imperial, Zia Marquez, Lauren Young, Enchong Dee, Valeen Montenegro, and Empress Schuck.

Some joined for the vacation at pumayag na ring mag-cameo and some made the trip a stopover for their Bicol shows, tulad nina Jason na may Legaspi show at Bea na may Bauang show.

Friday ng umaga, April 18, tumulak ang mahigit 80 contingent ng show, including the production staff, mga guardians ng ilang menor de edad na artista—including former stars Maritess Gutierrez na ina ni Chris and Brenda del Rio na ina naman ni Zia—at ilang invited press, sakay ng Air Philippines.

Nauna na sa crew ang dalawang directors of the show na sina Erik Salud and Jojo Saguin to prepare the production.

Tatlong araw ang inilagi ng lahat sa mismong El Rey Villa, a sprawling 50-hectare resort complex na sinasabing world's best wakeboard site.

In between takes, karamihan sa mga lalaking artista and some female stars like Zia learned wakeboarding. Bagama't nagsisibagsakan ang lahat noong una, by the second day, parang mga professionals na rin sila, specially Fred and John James.

Sabado ng gabi, April 19, nag-final taping ang show, ending with a big party scene na nauwi na rin sa totohanan. In attendance si Governor L-Ray, his four children and other foreigners who were there for the wakeboarding.

Linggo ng umaga, April 20, umalis ang karamihan, with others going to their next destination.

Ipalalabas ang special two-part episode as finale sa middle of May.
