Mixing work and play, the young stars of ABS-CBN recently had a grand time as they trooped to Camarines Sur last April 18 to 20 to shoot the two-part concluding episode of the teen oriented show Astigs.
CamSur Governor L-Ray Villafuerte hosted the visit with the intention of exposing the province not just to celebrities but also to a wider audience. Part of the itinerary was the CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC), which currently is Camarines Sur's greatest tourist attraction.
CWC is of course known throughout the world as one of the best places to do wakeboarding, and the young stars of Star Magic experienced first hand the exciting water sport throughout their stay.
"Ang dami ng marunong... ang daming nagwi-wakeboard na artista," proudly enthused Gov. Villafuerte to the press during an interview. He cited Angel Locsin and wakeboarding's famous celebrity advocate Aga Muhlach as some of the stars linked to the sport.
Getting a celebrity endorser to promote both the sport and the place is part of the local government's plan, according to the governor.
"We're planning to do that," he revealed. But when probed if they already have a specific name in mind, Gov. Villafuerte decided to play coy and simply reasoned that they're still weighing their options.
SUMMER SOJOURN. Although the young stars were there to shoot, the general mood was very laid back and loose. "Parang bakasyon na din," was how Victor Basa described the trip.
The entire cast of the show—from the original lineup to the latest additions—was present. Archie Alemania, Raphael Martinez, John James Uy, Rodjun Cruz, Victor Basa, Valeen Montenegro, Empress Schuck, Laureen Young, Alfonso Martinez, Enchong Dee, Zia Marquez and Angelo Patrimonio were some of the stars spotted by PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
Although not officially part of Astigs, ABS-CBN stars like Jason Abalos and Bea Saw were also included in the entourage for different engagements in Legaspi and Bauang, respectively.
All the stars of Astigs were one in saying that they would surely miss each other's company now that the show has finally reached its end. And indeed, as comedian and host Archie Alemania put it, going out of town is the best way to wrap things up. He further said, "We see each other in the studio but we never really bonded until now. This place really made us all bond."
