Bernard Palanca and Meryll Soriano "better off as friends"

May 19, 2008
"It was the happiest day, I guess," actor Bernard Palanca said about his recent visit to son Elijah with actress Meryll Soriano. "You can say I was as happy as the first day he came out, maybe even happier kasi he responded, e."

Out of hundreds na ‘yong talagang guwaping Australiano and Italiano, ako ‘yong napili. Isang certain platoon, a soldier, it's a war movie kasi set in the ‘40s."

"My point naman kasi, the opportunity was there tapos that one little chance na kaya. That's why I came back to work on the paper so when I go back in the future, puwede na," katuwiran niya.

MAKING UP FOR LOST TIME.

Kumpisal ni Bernard: "I miss my son. I came home for him also. I missed his baptism kasi, ‘coz that was the time of the whole HBO thing, and even when my dad passed away two months ago, I couldn't come home din."

"Well, Meryll and I spoke and she gave him [Elijah] to me kaagad. After a few seconds, he smiled at me tapos he hugged. Then wala na, we were playing the whole time," nangingiting kuwento ng aktor.

BETTER OFF AS FRIENDS. As for his relationship with Meryll, sinabi ni Bernard na maayos naman ang lahat at wala naman daw silang resentment o bitterness.

"Meryll and I are actually very okay. In fact, last Friday [May 16], we had lunch together, just me and her. We finalized our relationship in a good way. We really talked about lahat ng kailangan kong gawin as a father, everything, you know, we both need to do as parents."

Ika nga ni Bernard, "As of now, we both already decided final na. We're better off as friends."

"I'm just moving on to a place where I think I may be able to create something for myself and for my son in the future," depensa ng aktor sa kanyang desisyon.

"I needed to leave to really discover who I am again and bring out the real me again, and that's what Australia did to me. It humbled me, it woke me up to a lot of things, you know, it just made me, I guess, a better person."
