Entering showbiz is one thing. But staying and thriving is another, which makes it a here-today-gone-tomorrow thing. Kanya-kanyang diskarte lang yan. You either hit or miss. Period.
At thirteen, Hazel Reyes (a.k.a. Ara Mina) first appeared in what she refers to an “extra” role in Channel 13’s Bistek. It was followed by movie stints in Rollerboys, Sitsiritsit, and Anghel na Walang Langit. Nung mag-16 siya, nag-umpisa siyang magpa-sexy via Init sa Tag-Ulan. Pero dahil bubot pa, bumalik siya sa wholesome image in Shake, Rattle & Roll 4, only to be relaunched as a sexy actress in Maldita nung 18 years old na siya.
In 2003, na-justify ng kanyang first Best Actress award (from Metro Manila Film Festival for Mano Po) ang napili niyang stepping stone. The awards came pouring in after then. Fast forward to the present, Ara’s career is nothing but thriving.
And after all the clothes shed and skin bared, she has no regrets.
Yan ang formula a la Ara Mina!
