"With regard to all the artists, not anybody in particular, everyone is friendly. You know, the industry is small, we all have a good working relationship," comments Charlene Gonzalez on her working relationships with other local celebrities.

Charlene Gonzalez-Muhlach never thought of becoming part of the showbiz industry when she joined Binibining Pilipinas in 1994. Now, she has made a mark by playing roles in movies and television and hosting talk shows.

In an interview with her during the press launch of Pond's Age Miracle at The Peninsula Hotel in Makati City yesterday, January 27, the former beauty queen took the opportunity to thank the industry that welcomed her 16 years ago.

"I think, by now, everyone knows that malaki rin ang utang ng loob ko sa industriya," stated the 34-year-old actress-TV host. "I've been in the industry for the past 16 years already. Believe it or not, ang bilis talaga ng panahon at mahal ko talaga ang industriya. It's an industry that I will never leave. And it's something that I look forward to, I long to be part of. At the moment, I'm not closing my doors to anything, I'm taking one step at a time. But I will always be forever grateful to our industry and I will love it forever."

Among the highlights of Charlene's career were the movies that she did. In 1996, she played the lead role in the 1996 remake of Dyesebel. She also had an opportunity to be the leading lady of the late King of Philippine Cinema Fernando Poe Jr. and actor-politician Bong Revilla in the movies Epimaco Velasco, NBI (1997) and Ben Delubyo (1998), respectively. Aside from these, she also hosted two dance shows: Eezy Dancing and Keep on Dancing in the late '90s.

She stopped appearing on the big screen and gave up her dancing shoes when she married actor Aga Muhlach in 2001.

Charlene explained, "Noong nag-asawa kami ni Aga, we had to choose. I think for every woman, one of the dreams in life is to be able to have a family, healthy kids, and a good partner in life. Those are one of the things that we have to give up in our situation because of our time in order to make that dream of a good family work. So, kay Aga na lang 'yan. When we got married, we decided na siya na lang ang gagawa ng movies. But with regard to TV, I love doing it, he's never stopped me."

This was evident in the three successful talk shows that Charlene has hosted in the past six years—ABS-CBN lifestyle shows At Home Ka Dito (2002-2004)and Feel At Home (2004-2007) and the recently-concluded QTV 11 woman empowerment program Proudly Filipina (2007).

HOSTING A MORNING SHOW? Since her last show has already ended, Charlene is currently spending her precious time with her twins Andres and Atasha. She said, "Well, for now, I've been enjoying my break. I've been on break for the past two months and so far I'm enjoying it. I'll take one step at a time."

This could possibly be the reason she looked surprised when asked about her rumored comeback on television. "I haven't heard that. This is the first time I heard about it," said Charlene.

There are reports saying that she will have another morning talk show but when asked about it, Charlene just replied, "I cannot disclose anything right now."

Charlene then admitted that she is willing to do another talk show because she already misses hosting for TV. "I think once you have an experience, you will always look forward to it. Ang nami-miss ko talaga sa TV is getting the chance to meet so many people and experience different things, getting to know different stories. Nami-miss ko talaga."

"I'M OKAY WITH EVERYONE." There are speculations that Charlene might do a show that will replace the current ABS-CBN morning talk show Boy & Kris, which is hosted by Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino. In line with this, a reporter curiously asked her if she and the Queen of Talk are now on good terms. Charlene simply answered, "I'm okay with everyone."

Kris and Charlene had a misunderstanding during Randy Ortiz's fashion event last September 2008. Kris told Charlene, who was wearing a different gown from the set motif, "Pa-star ka!" (Click here to read related article.)

Charlene didn't address the issue directly but she pointed out, "Well, ever since the beginning, I've always had good relationships with everyone. Not that veering on one particular person, hindi ganun. You know, life is not perfect, but those are the things or the hurdles that you go through in life. But the most important thing is that you have a clean conscience and maganda rin ang intention mo sa lahat ng tao.

"You know, the industry is small. You know, you have no bridges to burn, you will always bump into somebody again and again and again. So, mas masarap din to live life knowing that, you know, you have a good relationship with everyone."

As of now, Charlene does not want to think of replacing anyone or any show until the offer has been given to her. She concluded, "You know, it's hard to predict the future, di ba? Wala pa naman, e, so let's just leave it like that."

BOY & KRIS WILL NOT BE REPLACED. In the January 25 episode of The Buzz, TV hosts Boy and Kris denied the rumor that their show will be axed. Boy even stressed that, "Hindi po ito totoo. Sa aming timeslot sa umaga, we are the leader in that particular timeslot in the nationwide ratings and maraming salamat po."

But viewers should look forward to a big surprise from these two morning talk show hosts. Kris just hinted, "It's very difficult to say further kasi in the landscape of television, competition is fierce. Because they always say that if you reveal too much, 'yong kakumpitensya mo, mapaghahandaan ka."
