Gabby Concepcion has several things to be grateful for these days. First, he's now busy working on his film with Angelica Panganiban and Derek Ramsay. Second, he's happy that GMA Films has given him the go-signal to proceed with this project under Star Cinema.
"Actually, masaya nga ako kasi maganda ang treatment sa akin ng GMA [Films], binigyan na nila ako ng go-signal para mag-shooting with Star Cinema. Thank you GMA [Films] for that opportunity. So, nagshu-shooting na kami ng Star Cinema with [director] Laurice Guillen," the 45-year-old actor related to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the 6th Golden Screen Awards last night, April 30, at the Metro Bar in West Avenue, Quezon City.
Gabby stressed, however, that he's not closing his door to future projects with GMA Films. "Wala pang pinag-uusapan pero in the future, puwedeng pag-usapan naman 'yon, e, the doors are not closed," he said. (Click here to read related article)
Aside from the movie, Gabby is also excited about his reunion project with actress Lorna Tolentino. The two had worked in the movies Narito ang Puso Ko (1992) and Kislap sa Dilim (1991).
He said, "Masarap nga yung feeling na magtratrabaho kami ulit ni Lorna. Kasi matagal na ring hindi gumagawa ng pelikula si Lorna. Actually, teleserye yung gagawin namin pero matagal na rin kaming hindi nagsasama. So, iba ito, hindi ko rin alam kung ano ang nararamdaman ko o mararamdaman ko kapag nag-grind na ang camera."
WORKING WITH FORMER WIFE SHARON CUNETA. During the "mega birthday concert" of Sharon Cuneta last January, people got the most pleasant surprise of the night when Gabby's video greeting to his former wife was shown. Fans gave their loudest shrieks, and many of them wished to see them together again in a movie. (Click here to read related article.)
The actor nodded in agreement. "Yung team-up namin [ni Sharon], maganda sana kung mangyayari dahil maraming nagre-request," he said. Hindi ko lang alam kung kailan mangyayari yun. Maraming nagre-request ng movie, e. So sabi ko, maganda rin siguro kung ibibigay din natin sa kanila."
But he's wary about the intrigues, which could drag their respective families into the picture. "Huwag lang sanang nakakaintriga sa pamilya namin, yun ang pini-pinpoint din ni Sharon, which I agree para hindi na guluhin yung mga personal naming buhay. Strictly lang for the fans at saka sa mga gustong manood ng pelikula namin."
Latest rumors claimed that Gabby would make an appearance in the upcoming movie of Sharon with Ai-Ai delas Alas. The dad of KC Concepcion denied this during his exclusive interview with PEP last April 20. He said then, "Wala. I don't even know where that came from. May nagsabi sa akin, 'Guest ka ba?' Sabi ko, 'Hindi, hindi ko alam.'" (Click here to read the article.)
But a source told PEP that this is an "almost sure" idea, and that their daughter KC is supposedly excited about this.
He made no mention about this during this interview, but he remarked in jest, "Gusto ko nga sana, siya rin ang mag-guest sa akin, e, [in his movie with Angelica and Derek]."
