Richard Gutierrez's recent car accident brings to mind other celebrity fender-benders.

Most showbiz celebrities are driven by chauffeurs but a few still enjoy driving at the risk of ending up in fender-benders, like Richard Gutierrez who figured in an accident while driving his sports car last week.

TopGear.com.ph looks back at other celebrity car crashes where showbiz personalities themselves were at the wheel:

Sunshine Dizon. The actress was on her way to her birthday celebration when she reportedly lost control of her BMW 316i. The car mounted the sidewalk at the corner of Boni Avenue and Pioneer Street in Mandaluyong. Witnesses said the crash was so strong that the car almost toppled an electric post. Sunshine needed a cast for her right leg while her face, forearms, neck and chest were said to be very badly bruised.

Vandolph Quizon. Vandolph is no stranger to vehicular crashes, being involved in two highly-publicized accidents. The first one happened in 2001 while he was driving Joey Marquez's Ford F-150. Vandolph was coming down from Baguio to Manila with his girlfriend Ishi Raquiza, his driver, and his bodyguard. Despite having a driver, Vandolph took the wheel and was reportedly speeding on the national highway to overtake a bus, only to find a small truck approaching from the other lane. Without room to maneuver, Vandolph's pickup and the small truck collided head-on. The accident claimed Ishi's life.

Three years later, Vandolph shared another headline with the phrase "car accident." According to reports, the young actor was driving a Ford Expedition on a rainy night when he was slowing down to avoid the car in front of him. The wet road caused the car to slip and fall in a deep excavation that is now the Katipunan-Boni Serrano Avenue tunnel to Libis, Quezon City. Fortunately, Vandolph's then-girlfriend-and-now-wife Jenny Salimao survived this one.
