Preview's Barbie-themed 2009 Ball


Anne Curtis's lace ballerina dress and the signature top-knot ponytail made her one of most stunning Barbies that evening! Since she became part of the Best Dressed list two years ago, she never failed to attend the annual event for fashionistas!

June 26 marked the annual Preview Best Dressed Ball, which was attended by the metro's fashionistas, and held at WhiteSpace in Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City. This year's theme was Barbie, the 50-year-old favorite doll of almost every young lady.

Doors officially opened at 8:00 p.m. The guests were asked to drop by the photo booth, and then they walked the ramp all dolled-up in their Barbie-inspired costumes (Link to Poll and Gallery).

By 9:00 p.m., WhiteSpace was already jam-packed with Barbies—both the doll and humans—and Kens (click here to view Gallery). Among the prominent people spotted were hosts Mariel Rodriguez and Bianca Gonzales, actresses Anne Curtis, Carla Humphries, Nicole Anderson, Mich Dulce, Bubbles Paraiso, and of course, Maricel Soriano, who also happens to be the cover girl of the July issue (click here to view behind-the-scenes video of

VJs Maggie Wilson and Kat Alano, models Isabelle Daza and Paula Taylor, Raymond Gutierrez and Tim Yap were also present.

The 30-minute program, which began at past 10:00 p.m., highlighted the awarding of the 10 Best Dressed women of Preview this year, and one of them is none other than Maricel Soriano.

DIAMOND STAR SHINES. Maricel, who chose a black dress, was "very excited and very happy." She told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), 'Parang this is my first time na...Yung ganitong type. But let's just say na it's like an event in a different level."

Other ladies in the list: real estate executive Divine Lee, model Bea Soriano, entrepreneur Alex Suarez, fashion stylist Pam Quiñones, Amazing Race Asia muse Paula Taylor, designer Melissa Dizon, U.S.-based fashion blogger Martine Cojucom, dance instructor Georcelle Dapat, and Kai Lim.

After the awarding, the party resumed with drinking, chatting and picture-taking.

Some celebs even shared their Barbie memories.


Carla Humphries: "Well, when I was small, I had so many Barbies. I've got a horse for the Barbie. I had the car. Well, at that time, I play alone. Now I play with my little sister. But she's already grown up. But I had this doll house and it's still with me."

Anne Curtis: "Actually when I was young, I wanna cut [the dolls'] hair and I had the Barbie bed and Barbie convertible. I like them, but yung iba nawala. But I used to collect them. And now, I'm looking for the [collectors'] items."

Mariel Rodriguez: "During my time, Barbie is like the one, di ba? And I remember I had this Barbie set. It was supposed to be like a Barbie mall."
