Angel Locsin visits war-torn municipality in Lanao del Norte

"Ako, bilang isang Kristiyano, di ba, takot tayo kapag sinabing Muslim kasi may dalang bomba? Hindi, kailangan nila ang [tulong] natin. Wala naman silang ginawang masama," says Angel Locsin.

While her leading men in Only You, Sam Milby and Diether Ocampo, were in the United States for Star Magic's world concert tour, Angel Locsin took the opportunity to educate herself on the current situation of civilians affected by the war between the military and the Muslim revolutionary group Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The young actress, who arrived recently from this three-day exposure trip, said that she and four friends went to Munai Evacuation Center in Lanao del Norte without security detail.

"Siguro for exposure. Bakit ba nagkakagulo? Bakit ba kinatatakutan?' So ako, gusto kong malaman first hand why," said Angel when interviewed by PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other showbiz reporters during the thanksgiving press conference for Only You last night, June 30.

Angel said she turned down the backup that was offered to her by boyfriend Luis Manzano.

Although the thought of going there without security escorts was frightening, Angel still went on with their plan.

"Siyempre, kahit papaano, nandoon 'yong takot.

Angel said that there are already plans to extend more help to the civilian Muslims, but she could not give details.

"May iniisip kami," she mentioned.

The 24-year-old actress added that this is just her way to give back to the people all the success she's getting in her showbiz career. She also mentioned her influence as a celebrity to encourage people's awareness of the real situation in Mindanao.

Theactress does not want people to think that she's on a mission just because she plans to enter politics in the future, which is untrue.

"Malayo sa utak ko 'yon, e," she said.

Angel also said she wouldn't take any position related to the government.
