"Bawal malungkot ngayong gabi, dapat lahat masaya!" demanded Jomari Yllana during the 40th day of his late manager Douglas Quijano last July 23 at Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City.
He added, "We're celebrating 'yong 40th day niya and birthday niya supposedly tomorrow [July 24]. Lahat ng mga malalapit sa kanya nandito—directors, producers, talents niya, artista."
Although he admitted missing his "father" in showbiz, the former Guwapings member said that he must start to move on with his life.
I'm doing my best."
In connection with this, he mentioned that he still has not found a new talent manager. "Hindi ako naghahanap, hindi ko pa kayang maghanap," he said.
Right now, Jomari said he's handling his own showbiz career. "I'm doing it on my own hangga't kaya ko. Kapag hindi ko na kaya, maghahanap na ako."
He confidently said that Douglas has taught him a lot of lessons about managing a showbiz career.
"Lahat naman ng ginagawa ko, 'yong buong career ko, is patterned sa patent niya of how he did it, kung paano niya ginawa for us. Ako, ganun din naman, e. Kung anuman ang gagawin ko, based pa rin sa lahat ng itinuro niya sa akin. Hindi naman ako nalilihis ng landas. It's 20 years of managing and imaging, so kung ano ang natutunan ko, 'yon din ang naa-apply ko."
FOCUSING ON FEARLESS PRODUCTIONS. From acting, Jomari is now more focused on his newfound career, managing a production outfit called Fearless Production. This company, which is co-owned by brothers Ronald and Ryan Singson, brought over David Cook and David Archuleta of American Idol. Their very first project was the reunion concert of his ex-girlfriend Pops Fernandez with her former husband Martin Nievera titled Missing You.
Next month, Jomari excitedly told the media that they're bringing over YouTube sensation Marie Digby.
"We're bringing her in sa August 1 on NBC Tent. Hindi ko pa siya nakilala, pero nakilala na siya ni Ronald. Pagdating niya dito, doon pa lang kami magmi-meet. But maganda ang project, maganda ang idea. It's very fresh, she's a new artist, and definitely she's gonna make it big. As early as now, gusto ko ma-experience na natin siya dito sa Pilipinas."
Who else are they bringing to Manila?
Jomari replied, "Mahaba ang lineup, pero we cannot mention, e. Because bawat artist, we negotiate, e. Kapag sigurado na, nandiyan na, that's when we'll [announce it]. We plan on doing this three or four times a year."
Before Jomari rejoined his fellow Douglas talents in the day's celebration, he noted that his focus on Fearless was the reason he hasn't been dating anyone.
"Hindi rin ako nakakapag-date, puro ako trabaho," he stated. "I'm focusing everything on my career. Importante ang career ngayon kasi nawalan kami ng tatay. Set aside ko muna ngayon, ano ba tawag do'n, lamiyerda."
