To help the victims of typhoon Ondoy, singer-songwriter-actor-TV host Ogie Alcasid along with GMA-7 talents and "hopefully artists from the other network" will stage a fundraising concert on November 14 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

Despite the outpour of support and assistance from various sectors following the recent onslaught of typhoon Ondoy, and now typhoon Pepeng, the road to total recovery, particularly for those directly affected by the calamity, is still a long way to go.

"Malayo pa ito. Marami pa tayong dapat gawin," acknowledged singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) yesterday, October 4, inside the Studio 7 of GMA Network Studios in Quezon City.

PEP had the chance to talk to Ogie during an intermission break in GMA-7's musical-variety show SOP. The Kapuso network devoted most of its Sunday programs to extend help and assistance to the victims of the typhoon, as well as to pay tribute to the heroic acts of celebrities and non-celebrities during and after the disaster.

Like most of our local celebrities, Ogie has been very generous in sharing his time and resources to those affected by the typhoon, which left most of Metro Manila and nearby provinces submerged in flood waters and leaving thousands of families displaced from their homes.

To shore up assistance even more, Ogie has decided to organize a fundraising concert slated on November 14 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

Concrete details about the event are still indefinite at this moment since the concert was conceptualized in light of the recent disaster. Rowell Santiago will most likely direct the charity concert.

Ogie hopes to gather both GMA-7 and ABS-CBN singers and performers to participate in the concert. The comedian-host had already relayed his proposal to some Kapamilya talents but feedback, response and confirmation were still pending at press time.

"Hopefully, marami tayong maisama sa concert to encourage more people din to watch which in turn would benefit the typhoon victims," the Yaya and Angelina co-star said.

The concert, as revealed by Ogie, will be called Kaya Natin 'To!—a positive battlecry coined to highlight our country's ability to rise above any adversity.

The theme of the fundraising concert in terms of the song repertoire, according to Ogie, will try to veer away from heartbreak and despair. Instead of focusing on the negative aftermath of the disaster, the entire team behind Kaya Natin 'To will focus largely on "resiliency, optimism, and moving forward" to a better tomorrow.
