What a more fitting way to celebrate a clothing brand's anniversary than to hold a fashion show!
But the "whole team of Lee and around five stylists" was faced with a major challenge, which was to present the brand's 120 sturdy years in less than an hour.
Lee's creative director Epoy Arcino told PEP (Philippine Enetrtainment Portal), "Celebration ng 120th of Lee, so parang progressive yung collection—from original heritage collection, which is 101, and then progression to 1940's like that, first ever zip fly jeans, and 50's, and then 80's—and then the second part is, parang quotation of the Make History entries. Yung mga competition, yung mga photo, 'tapos interpretation ng stylists together with our jeans."
Make History was launched "in the Asia Pacific region in 2008 to serve as a platform for everyone to submit photo reportage in their own words and photos online." The feel should "foster a sense of unity—an expression to Passion," as mentioned in Lee's website.
One of the highlights was the participation of action star Robin Padilla.
Arcino related his working experience with the guy dubbed Bad Boy of the Philippine Movies in the '90s: "I had initial meeting with him, before we invited him for the show, parang what? Sabi niya, 'Ano, fashion show?' Kinakabahan daw siya.
"Sabi ko, 'Hindi, hindi ka masyadong lalakad, tatayo ka lang. So, natakot siya, kasi siguro iba yung tingin niya sa ramp, fashionable while he's into basic so parang nilagay namin siya, dun sa heritage ng Lee, which is basic denim. Perfect sa image niya."
Catch Robin, budding actors Phil Younghusband and Daniel Matsunaga, and seasoned models Rocky Salumbides, Luke Jickain, and Robbie Mananquil as they strut their denim stuff!
