Actor-director Eric Quizon considers dad Dolphy one of the easiest actors to work with

"Whenever you do a Dolphy movie, parating iba 'yan," says Eric Quizon about the movie he directed, Nobody, Nobody But... Juan!, which features his father, Comedy King Dolphy.

Actor-director Eric Quizon feels excited about Nobody, Nobody But... Juan! not only because this is his first movie project since 2003.

"I was a bit inspired doing this movie," said Eric in an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) after the media conference for the movie last December 10.

He continued, "A bit because I'd like to say that in anything I do, I get inspired. But I haven't done anything in a while. The last time I did a movie was in 2003 pa [Home Alone da Riber], the rest were TV shows pa.

"It's nice to be back doing movies again. I made sure na ano, I wanted to come up with something good. And I'd like to think that I have a very good finished product."

DIRECTING HIS DAD. Eric was also happy that the movie features the Comedy King Dolphy.

"It's a different Dolphy because he portrays somebody his age," said Eric.

Isn't it hard to give acting directions to someone close to him like his father?

Eric said it was exactly the opposite. For him, Daddy Dolphy was one of the easiest actors to work with.

He explained, "Siyempre, iniisip mo tatay mo siya, so parang mahirap. But no, he's the easiest person to talk to, the one person who listens. I mean, kapag sinabi mo sa kanyang, 'Dad, I have to tell you something,' he will sit down [and ask], 'What is it?' You know that the attention is there and you know that he's gonna help you. You know that in his own little way, may gagawin 'yang paraan."

"I think, when you listen, that means you're intelligent because that means you absorb [information]. And when you absorb, there's knowledge. He's like that so alam mong isa siyang intelihenteng tao na ibang klase talaga, brillant. He's a brillant person. He has a brilliant mind na magaling mag-isip. Hindi siya tumitigil. Gusto niya parating bago.

STILL WORKING AT 81. Eric revealed that although his dad is already 81 years old, the veteran comedian still has the energy to entertain the public. In fact, he said, working gives his father strength.

So meaning, buhay niya 'yon. Alam mo talaga, kapag 'yon na ang buhay mo, no matter what you do, umalis ka, babalik ka."

Does this mean he has plans to include his father in future projects?

"Kung sa plano, marami. Kumbaga, there are endless possibilities," answered Eric. We'll just wait and see first kung maganda ang resulta nito at kung talagang gusto pa niya."

DOLPHY BIOPIC. After Eric released the autobiographical book Dolphy: Hindi Ko Ito Mararating Mag-isa, many started asking if there would also be a biographical picture about the Comedy King.

Direk Eric couldn't give a definite answer, but he said it would be a great idea.

Then he said that one movie wouldn't be enough to relate the whole story of his father's life.

"I think it has to be either a mini-series or a series of movies, parang Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter...

He also stressed, "It would be nice kung gagawin mo siya, gagawin mo siya na ipakita mo talaga 'yong buong istorya ng buhay niya kung talagang gagawa ng isang bio picture for him."

When asked if it would be possible for him to do the biopic, Direk Eric replied, "Well, we've talked about it. The possibility is there, but when, I don't know. It really depends on him if he still wants to portray or be part of that.
