Yesterday, March 14, was supposed to be Ruffa Gutierrez's last day as co-host of The Buzz. But after what happened between her and Kris Aquino the previous week, she just had a taped interview with Boy Abunda to say goodbye.

Ruffa: Tito Boy, thank you din. Actually, thank you also because I know that the reporters [were] also calling you last week and you didn't say anything. Alam ko naman you love Kris more because you're closer but you didn't say [anything] bad about me. So, thank you.

Boy: No, but it has nothing to do with loving another person more. Sabi ko nga sa SNN, it's rising above the situation. It's being able to overcome whatever struggles. Kasi yung nangyari, it happens to the best of friends. It happens to families.

LOOKING BACK.

Noong panahon na you were in Turkey, then you were thinking of coming back. How was the feeling?

Ruffa: Actually, Tito Boy, when I was in Turkey and I was thinking of coming back, hindi ko naisip na I would stay here for long. Kasi everytime that I would come back, it's more of guest-guest lang and then go back. But, you know, I remember the last day na nag-away kami ni Yilmaz, I knew that I wasn't coming back to Turkey. But I never thought I would have a career as beautiful as the career that I have now.

Boy: The answer is kasi, you are Ruffa Gutierrez and your whole family is in the business. I mean, I remember pa we [had] an interview with Yilmaz sa Le Souffle.

Ruffa: Yes, I love that interview. It was one of my most memorable interviews.

Boy: It was my first time to do an interview, I mean, up close with Yilmaz. During that time, sabi mo nga with all humility, you didn't expect that your career will blossom the way it did.

Ruffa: No, not at all.

SHOWBIZ COMEBACK.

Boy: Ano yung iniisip mo na magaganap during that time?

Ruffa: Wala. Kumbaga, I came to the Philippines, you know, thinking that it's a new beginning for me.

Boy: At saka iba na yung faces, iba na yung places.

Ruffa: Oo, wala na nga rin akong kilala, e, not even in the beginning like when I first started on The Buzz. Talagang I have to read the newspapers kasi ang dami nang mga bagong mukha. I really didn't know what direction I was gonna take or what's in store for me.

Ruffa: Tama. I did Kokey, Betty La Fea, Ruffa & Ai, The Buzz...

Boy: Talk about it. I mean, the best memories.

Like Eugene Domingo, I remember when they told me na, 'A kasama mo rito si Eugene Domingo.' Sabi ko, 'Ow, guwapo ba yun?' I didn't even know that it was a girl. I have no idea who Ate Uge was. Of course, I was able to work with the finest actors. Bea Alonzo, unang eksena pa lang niya talagang nadala niya ako. Of course, John Lloyd Cruz, napakahusay din. Si Vhong [Navarro] is also super funny. Yung mga friendships kasi, Tito Boy, they still remain up to now.

Boy: And then you did Ruffa & Ai.

Ruffa: I did Ruffa & Ai. And you know, kami ni Ai Ai [delas Alas], people think na we're opposites. Pero we jell in so many ways.

LEARNINGS. Bilang isang Kapamilya, marami ring natutunan si Ruffa.

Boy: Ruffa, you are beginning a new chapter in your life. And we're very happy. I'm very happy for you. Lessons... let's talk about learnings. Share with me learnings.

Ruffa: I learned a lot bilang Kapamilya. Unang-una, Tito Boy, I was given a job in the midst of all my woes back then. At saka yung marriage ko, di ba, nag-break down? Nandiyan sila para sa akin. Natuto ako to become a better actress. Natuto akong maging a better host. Of course, you and Kris, who I looked up to as my mentors. Marami akong natutunan sa inyo each time na nasa The Buzz ako. You know, being in front of the people, it's great, di ba? So, yun. And lessons na kailangan maging humble. Each time... I think I can say that I'm more human now than I was before.

Boy: And as you continue your journey may mga baon-baon ka, di ba?

Ruffa: Yes, may mga baon akong smiles. I met so many friends here, di ba? Ayoko nga ng goodbyes, e. Goodbye is like breaking up with a boyfriend for no reason. It's like letting him go.

THANK YOU.

Boy: I know, [in] whatever language, it hurts. But it's nice to say thank you. And I'm going to give you this chance to say your thank you's. I mean, to all, to all your friends. And we're not saying goodbye. Just say thank you.

Ruffa: (Dito na naging emosyonal si Ruffa) Well, first of all, to you Tito Boy, thank you so much. I learned so much from you. When the going gets rough, you've given me great advice.

Ruffa: Of course, I would like to thank Kris also, napakarami ko ring natutunan kay Kris. Yung incident na nangyari last Sunday [March 7], isa lang yun. Kumbaga the whole two, three years naman, we have a lot of good, crazy, funny moments. So, to Kris also, thank you so much. If it wasn't for you, actually, kung hindi ka nabuntis kay Baby James, wala ako sa The Buzz. Kaya maraming-maraming salamat. At you know, nandito pa rin ako kahit bumalik ka. I know there are also a lot of things going on in your life. But you made me stay here as your co-host.

Sa lahat ng mga fans ko all over the world. Of course, to my bosses dito sa ABS-CBN, Sir Gabby (Lopez), Tita Charo (Santos-Concio) who I have known since I was a little girl, Tita Cory (Vidanes), Tita Linggit (Tan), Sir Deo (Endrinal), lahat-lahat sila mami-miss ko kayong lahat. Even si Sir Freddie Garcia. Thank you sa inyong lahat. Gosh, umiyak na ako nang bonggang-bongga!

NEVER SAY GOODBYE.

Boy: We'll also gonna miss you. Mami-miss namin yung tawa. Mami-miss namin yung napakagagandang damit like what you were wearing last Sunday.

Boy: Marami...most especially that laughter.

Ruffa: Nakakalungkot naman.

Boy: Inuulit ko naman 'yan. You know we run in circles in this industry. We should never say goodbye.

Ruffa: Never say goodbye. Never burn bridges.

Boy: But thank you. Bilang huling katanungan, you're very prayerful as a person, I know that. What is your prayer now?

Ruffa: My prayer is just for everything to be okay for me to move in the direction that God wants me to go to. And my prayer is...more than a prayer is just thanking Him for all the blessings, Tito Boy. And sana wala nang intriga masyado especially about my lovelife. And the kids of course, good health for my kids, for my parents.

Boy: Mula sa aking puso Ruffi, maraming salamat.

Ruffa: Maraming salamat din, Tito Boy.
