Last summer, acoustic singer Miki Hahn became part of La Salle College International-Manila's graduation show. But her main participation was not to perform; instead, she introduced her other passion—designing clothes.
The 20-year-old German-Spanish-Filipina told PEP (Philppine Entertainment Portal) that "fashion is a performance."
Every design she comes up with and each pattern she makes transforms her surroundings into a "delirious atmosphere." Miki adds, "[designing] plays with moods and creates kaleidoscope wardrobes."
The show's theme was "contemporary Filipiniana," and her creations were inspired by the country's Spanish era. In subtle ways—using details, colors and fabric—she was able to integrate the then "bruised" condition of the Philippines on her collection. Result: a round of applause from the guests.
Miki—whose fashion icons include Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy- Onasis, Coco Chanel, and Betsey Johnson—is set to establish her name in the field of fashion, where she wants "clean lines, playfulness, and youthful elegance" to be her trademark.
