Singer Chris Cayzer, football star Phil Younghusband and model Bea Soriano were recently chosen by telecommunication's firm Globe as "icons" for its Blackberry Curve plan promo.
The three brand ambassadors were formally introduced to the public along with the launching of the Blackberry Curve 8520 model last July 7 at the Republiq in Resorts World, Newport City in Pasay City.
It was also a chance for all the phone's fans and enthusiasts to get acquainted with each other up close and personal, hence the event name "Great White BBM Eyeball."
Majority of the invited guests were those listed under the brand's fan page in Facebook, which reportedly garnered around 20,000 fans days before the actual event.
"There are so many people! It's actually cool going to parties like this where you get to meet new faces and friends. These are mostly Blackberry users, I suppose," Chris—his voice drowned by the loud party music blaring from all corners—excitedly mentioned to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) as the venue was starting to fill up.
The special event was also graced by other celebrities like Princess Ryan, television host Pia Guanio and Eat Bulaga mainstays Pauleen Luna, Paolo Ballesteros, and Julia Clarete.
Lucky partygoers were also treated to a fun game where the person who had the most number of BBM (Blackberry Messenger) contacts would fly to Boracay for free, along with two friends.
The said mobile phone gained worldwide popularity after Oprah announced on national TV that she's a user. It was also revealed that U.S. President Barack Obama used the brand to communicate at the height of his campaign.
