"Siyempre masakit. Kung maririnig ko na never kang nagustuhan, siyempre masakit naman 'yon," says Kris Aquino about the comments made by her mother-in-law, Mrs. Annie Yap.

Amidst the controversy surrounding the separation of famous couple Kris Aquino and James Yap, the mother of James, Mrs. Annie Yap, heretofore known to the public as reticent and quiet, decides to speak out.

Mrs. Annie Yap, in a surprisingly frank interview, announces that her son James got a girl pregnant prior to his wedding to Kris. The TV host-actress, James's mom adds, knew about this. But despite the situation, says Mrs. Yap, the civil wedding of Kris and James pushed through without her knowledge.

From the start, Mrs. Yap admits, she was not in favor of Kris as a wife for her son. She mentions in particular that the difference in the social status of Kris, who comes from the prominent landed and political clan of the Cojuangcos, and James, who comes from their unknown and poor family from a village far from Manila, worried her. Kris, now known as the Queen of All Media, replied to Mrs. Yap's comments in an interview on The Buzz.

Kris says about her mother-in-law's interview: “Pinanood ng mga sisters ko, at siyempre noong pinag-uusapan nila, hinanap ko na din at pinanood ko. Siyempre, masakit.

Nevertheless, she will not say anything that may ruin James's reputation, Kris says, for the sake of their three-year-old son Baby James. She says she is also trying her best to understand where Mrs. Yap is coming from.

Gagawin mo ang lahat to protect your son. Walang right, walang wrong.

Kris confesses that she was hurt by her mother-in-law's statements.

“Mapapanood po 'yon ng apo ninyo at some point in time kasi nasa Internet na.

Kris's lawyers filed for a declaration of nullity of marriage last August 9. Citing Article 7 of the Family Code, the declaration says that the marriage of Kris and James was never valid because it "lacks the authority of the solemnizing officer." (CLICK HERE to read related story.)

James Yap, basketball star and recent Most Valuable Player of the Professional Basketball Association, has announced that he is filing a petition for visitation rights to son Baby James.
