Enchong follows healthy diet while working hard

Enchong brought a bowl of grapes to the set for his meal at dinner time. He's careful with what he eats, especially since he has such a busy schedule. But he shares this advise: "Eat moderately every time you feel hungry."

Enchong Dee is one busy guy nowadays.

His tandem with Erich Gonzales has created a buzz that's said to be rivaling that of the Kim Chiu-Gerald Anderson duo, another Kapamilya love team. They are seen nightly on Magkaribal. Then there is I Do, their first movie as a tandem showing in cinemas.

Enchong is also busy looking after a T-shirt business he started up with this brothers, AJ and Ice.

"Ever since July, wala na ako free time. As in dire-diretso na. Walang palya. Kung meron man, it's because of late call time. Tapos, kapag may free time ako, talagang tulog lang," Enchong said in an interview during the movie shooting.

Enchong takes care of his diet nowadays.

"Breakfast is light lang. Medyo hindi ko nasusunod ang heavy breakfast. Kasi, pagka-gising, diretso na talaga sa work. Sa lunch na lang talaga ako kumakain ng marami. And as much as possible, healthy and balanced.

"After that, vitamins. Sobrang kailangan mo ang vitamins. Hindi mo alam na nanghihina ka na pala pero vitamins help you. Tapos, small meals na lang kapag nakakaramdam na ako ng gutom. Mahirap naman yung biglaan ka marami ka kakainin. Masama din kasi iyon.

In between takes, he would be chewing any fruit. At the tent while doing this interview, he had a bowl of grapes that he had brought. When he saw the banana being served as dessert, he requested a crew member for a small plate. Just before shooting a sequence for the movie, Enchong picked about two or three slices of pichi-pichi found at the director's table.

One thing Enchong misses the most is swimming. He was a champion athlete at his alma mater De La Salle University where he won several medals and competed in other countries as well.

"I miss swimming so much. Parang minsan gusto ko tumakas just to go to the pool," Enchong said of the sport that he loves. "Iba yung feeling ko sa pool. Minsan nakaka-isip ka ng mabuti because of the fluidity. It's relaxation for me. It's a treat for me, lalo kung hindi super workout yung ginagawa ko."

Enchong hopes to get back to the pool the end of the month, when his heavy schedule lets up.

"Since I can't go to the pool, I just run inside the village. Masarap din kasi yung feeling na pinagpapawisan kaya I just run on my own." He goes out at around 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the afternoon to get his exercise, Enchong said.
