"Now, people call me Emerald. They don't call me Denise anymore. That's a good thing. At least, that means, they like her, they like Emerald. So, I like that. That's a compliment. I really appreciate that now, yung mga fans ko, from United Kingdom, Dubai, Japan, more pa sa abroad than here. But with Kristine, pumantay na yung abroad at dito. I'm happy that I can reach out to everyone," says Denise Laurel.

"Bigay-todo sa Kristine because we tape three times a week. So, pagdating namin from taping, bagsak na kami. E, siyempre, we want to be in perfect shape for taping day, kaya talagang we like it if we have time to sleep."

"Yeah, I know. Actually, I gained five pounds because I don't get to go to the gym. So, I'm trying to devise the plan na paano ko kaya gagawin 'to? Kung parati tayong nasa malayo, kapag dumarating ako ng bahay, siyempre, anong oras na. Siyempre, I have to sleep. So, I'm adjusting. Kasi, hindi ako sanay na mahabang Precious Hearts... Sanay ako sa one month, two months, two weeks, so, may time pa."

"Nako-confuse nga ang mga tao that I'm going to the sexy route. But for me, it's more like, it's part of the actress' job. If you are a serious actor at kung ano ang ipinagawa sa 'yo. Siyempre, you'll have some compromises like with me, my family, sobrang strict nila. So, I have to let them know ahead of time.

"Noong pinalabas kaya yung love scene namin ni Raf [Rafael Rosell] noong una, sobrang hindi ko alam kung gusto kong umuwi. Kasi, kinakabahan ako. Buti na lang pag-uwi ko, tulog sila. 'Tapos, the next day, may taping ako."

DENISE AS EMERALD.

"I guess, a certain maturity also comes along. Kasi, lahat ng scene niya, she's learning how to be on her own with Marco [Rafael]. She's struggling between her family and her love. So, for me, wow, I've never been in that position and I learned from the mistakes that she does and how bad she feels."

Dugtong pa niya, "Now, people call me Emerald. They don't call me Denise anymore. That's a good thing. At least, that means, they like her, they like Emerald. So, I like that. That's a compliment.

"I really appreciate that now, yung mga fans ko, from United Kingdom, Dubai, Japan, more pa sa abroad than here. But with Kristine, pumantay na yung abroad at dito. I'm happy that I can reach out to everyone."

With her role in Kristine, masasabi niya ba na ngayon nararamdaman na niya ang importance niya sa Kapamilya network at nandoon na yung nale-level na rin siya sa iba pang leading ladies ng network?

"I've never felt unimportant naman sa ABS. In fairness, they always know how to make their talents feel welcome. So, for me, I focus more on working hard to make them happy. I constantly level up. I'm doing this na... 'Okay na 'yan.' I make sure that I keep them excited also. It's my job anyway, at the same time. I have so much to go through pa para ako, halimbawa, maging Bea Alonzo. I'm just so happy that this Kristine is primetime."

Yung mga intense na scenes, we make kulitan with each other, just so you know, just to keep it excited and light in between the scene para hindi kami nahahawa kay Marco at Emerald na ang bigat-bigat. So, we keep each other sane."

MORE TECHNICAL THAN PERSONAL WITH RAF. On a more personal note, wala pa rin bang nade-develop sa kanilang dalawa?

"Wala pa, wala pa," natatawa niyang sabi. "Parang since Midnight Phantom, it's still the same."

Nakaka-pressure naman as Denise and Raf," natatawa pa rin niyang sabi.

"No naman, kasi nga, we help each other with the scenes. So, most of the time kasi, siyempre, iba ang nakikita ng tao, iba ang napapanood nila, pero, yung technical side, it's very hard din. Siyempre, you angle yourself in the camera, lights, so, it looks romantic on screen. Pero siyempre kami, iniisip namin, 'Poposisyon ko yung head ko rito, 'tapos ikaw...' So, it's more technical at nakakatawa sa amin."

DENISE THE SINGER. Samantala, nominated din si Denise sa nakaraang Awit Awards sa Best Duets category with Kris Lawrence sa kantang "I Will Take You Forever."

"It's been playing in the radio for a long, long time. It was number one in Guam. It's a theme song of the show for the other network. But I'm just happy that, you know, they let me sing, kasi, hindi ko rin siya mapo-promote dun sa kabila. So, this is the first time I get to sing it live for a show and it's for Awit Awards."

Aminado naman si Denise na dahil nga sa acting siya nalilinya ngayon, she does miss singing.

"I miss it a lot. It's just that, I haven't had the right opportunity with the right kind of music to just sit down and sing. Siguro hinihintay ko pa. Kung paano ko ito hinintay, 'yung acting ko, darating din 'yun, at the right time.

"I'm thinking God naman has always the right timing. Maggo-go with the flow na lang ako."
