Victor Basa: No problem with leather

Actor-model Victor Basa joined fellow Penshoppe celebrity models Solenn Heusaff and Mikael Daez on the catwalk last May 15, during the Philippine Fashion Week celebration, held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

The latest collection unveiled by apparel brand Penshoppe last Sunday, May 15, during the Fashion Week celebration at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, leaned towards glam rock fashion.

People behind the brand sum up the idea behind the concept, saying that the product line "embodies those known for independent thought, rugged individualism, and pioneering mindsets."

Models took turns parading in jeans and outfits embellished with hardware—grommets, studs, and rivets—paired with edgier designs to perfectly encapsulate that rebellious "trailblazer" look.

Actor-model Victor Basa personally liked what he saw on the runway that afternoon.

"They're awesome!" exclaimed Victor when (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with him after the fashion event.

"Even if they have graphics, they're still extremely wearable even with the type of weather that we have here," continued Victor, who participated in the event along with fellow celebrities Solenn Heusaff and Mikael Daez.

True to the glam and punk influence on the designs, leather outfits emerged several times on the runway paired with a couple of fancy props.

While leather is widely regarded as a wardrobe staple even in the past, not all, especially Filipinos, are comfortable wearing one on casual occasions.

Can Victor pull it of, we asked?

"Of course!" he smiled. "You just have to mix and match it, and you're good to go."

Embracing rock and punk fashion, and that includes leather, actually suits Victor's personal style.

He mentioned American model-actor and 30 Seconds To Mars vocalist-songwriter Jared Leto as his current style icon, citing the rocker's willingness to experiment with various styles.
