Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo: "Ang key talaga to lose weight is discipline."

"I think, ang key talaga to lose weight is discipline. Dapat talaga, kapag sinabi mong 'magpapapayat ako', there's no turning back. Kailangan dire-diretsuhin mong gawin talaga siya," says Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo about losing weight.


Even before Judy Ann Santos got married to Ryan Agoncillo and gave birth to son Lucho, she was already known as a health buff.

From a chubby teen star, the multi-awarded actress gained more popularity when she started losing weight. This also led to numerous invitations to grace glossy magazine covers

When the former Mara Clara star became pregnant, many skeptics doubted if Judy Ann would be able to shed the extra pounds she gained after giving birth.

Well, it seemed like an easy task for the actress. Many were amazed at how fast she was able to lose the excess weight when she faced the media last Saturday, July 2, for her and Ryan's recent Purefood Tender Juicy Hotdog endorsement.

Of course, the first question that arose was, "How did you that?"

First, Judy Ann mentioned the new diet regimen that she's been following.

"Nakatulong sa akin nang malaki ang Cohen Diet," she related.

The actress was quick to clarify that she's not endorsing this type of diet. However, she strongly recommended it because, "Natutuwa lang po ako, bilang nagpapapayat, gusto ko ring makatulong sa iba na gusto mag-reduce ng weight.

"For health reasons din, na it's really a good diet.

"Nakaplataporma siya sa blood type mo. Hindi ka magdidiyeta na parang nahihilo-hilo ka."

Cohen diet, according to cohenlifestyle.com, "is not a calorie-based, neither a high protein diet. It is a balanced Eating Plan and you do not have to starve yourself on the program."

The 33-year-old actress also credits her culinary skill because she didn't have a hard time preparing healthy food.

"Ako, na-enjoy ko siya dahil pina-practice ko rin 'yong skill ko bilang culinary student.

Ako ang gumagawa ng pagkain ko, naka-measure lahat ng pagkain ko.

May listahan lang ako ng mga pagkain na dapat kong kainin," Judy Ann said.

Unlike other people who want to lose weight, Judy Ann said she's still able to enjoy her favorite food, but in moderation.

"Nag-i-indulge din naman ako paminsan-minsan," she said with a smile.

"Kasi, di ba, nakakalungkot naman na kapag may party tapos ang kinakain mo puro gulay lang.

" Ayaw ko rin naman 'yong idea na lagi na lang akong nakakahon... na lagi na lang akong [umiiwas].

NO SHORTCUTS. From 164 pounds, Judy Ann was able to shed 26 pounds in three months.

"Hindi rin naman po madali," she said when asked how she did it.

Then, she further explained, "I don't think may madaling aspeto pagdating sa paglo-lose weight. Especially, kapag nag-e-enjoy ka talagang kumain."

But for those who are really determined to lose weight, here is a piece of advice from Judy Ann: "Ang key talaga to lose weight is discipline.

"Dapat talaga, kapag sinabi mong 'magpapapayat ako', there's no turning back.

"Kailangan dire-diretsuhin mong gawin talaga siya.

"At kung pupwede, huwag kang kumain sa labas.

"Pero kung may disiplina ka naman, mamili nang maayos.

"At kung kaya mong magkaroon ng time na pag-aralan 'yong mga pagkain na kakainin mo, mas mabuti."

LESS WORKOUT, MORE FAMILY TIME. As of now, Judy Ann says she still doesn't have time for an intense workout, which she used to do.

Instead, the celebrity mom follows simple videotaped exercises at home.

She reasoned, "Hindi kasi kaya ng time 'yong mag-workout araw-araw kasi nga, pagod din akong umuuwi ng bahay galing taping.

"Instead na mag-workout, magpapahinga na lang ako and spend time with my kids na lang.

"Atsaka ang tagal ko rin nawala sa pagwo-workout so, baka manibago ang katawan ko. Inuunti-unti ko muna."
