Kim Chiu is the proud designer of this waterproof tote bag for Beabi's Limited Artist Collection. The butterfly and the color pink are two of Kim's favorite elements which she combined in this functional carrier that can be used by girls for their everyday activities.

Aside from being an awarded actress, a teen queen and a top endorser, Kapamilya star Kim Chiu now adds bag designing to her list of recognitions.

Last July 28 at The Gallery in Greenbelt 5 in Makati, the 21-year old Cebuana was introduced to the public by travel and accessories brand Beabi as one of their newest celebrity designers.

The brand's Limited Artist Collection 2011 features tote bags designed by Kim, fashion designer Rajo Laurel and boxing champ Manny Pacquiao for the benefit of the Pacqman Partnerships for the poor and ABS-CBN Foundation's Bantay Bata 163 and Bantay Kalikasan.

In an exclusive chat with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) right before the event, Kim shared how she got involved with the project.

Although the My Binondo Girl star had always been very vocal about her love for fashion and all things "kikay," she never really thought of herself becoming a designer.

"Gusto ko lang talagang makatulong," says Kim who immediately agreed to the collaboration when she found out it was for charity.

Her bag designs are simple and very true to her personality—feminine, bubbly, adventurous and positive.

"Mahilig talaga ako sa mga butterflies and mga pink na stuffs," says the actress who chose a butterfly motif as the focal point of her bags which comes in two versions.

The pink and violet combination is for the girly and demure, "Puwede pang-mall, pang-gimik, or yung mag-hang out lang with friends," according to Kim.

Meanwhile, the black and pink one is more for everyday use and when the ladies want to go rugged, like traveling on a weekend.

"Sana magustuhan [ng mga tao] yung design ko and hindi naman siya nakakasising bilhin. Sobrang affordable and makakatulong pa ng ibang tao.

"Habang ginagamit nila, iisipin nila, 'Ay, nakatulong ako kasi bumili ako ng bag na ito.' At siyempre, cute yung design," she says.

BAG LOVER. To date, Kim owns a pretty good number of designer bags. However, she wouldn't disclose how many pieces and what brands she has in her closet so far.

In fact, Kim doesn't actually mind the brand when shopping for bags. She sets priority more on the quality and functionality of the item, and how it would match her wardrobe.

The top three things she'd never forget to pack in her bag are her "Cellphone, wallet and makeup kit. Yun yung top three."

Despite her busy schedule, Kim would always find time to go shopping whenever she can. Unlike other busy celebs, she doesn't pass the duty to an assistant or a personal shopper.

"Kasi iba yung type ko sa type ng sino mang uutusan ko. Baka hindi ko lang magugustuhan yung bibilhin niya.

"And I enjoy shopping," says Kim who usually frequents Shangri-La Plaza, and Powerplant malls when in town.

When abroad, she also likes to check out bazaars and stalls for unique fashion finds.
