Gretchen Barretto is a scene-stealer wherever she goes.
At the annual Star Magic Ball, held at the Manila Peninsula Hotel last September 3, La Greta once again stunned reporters and onlookers as she walked the red carpet.
Attending the ball for a third time, Gretchen said she wanted to "enjoy the evening and support the Star Magic talents," some of whom she worked with in the series Magkaribal, like Bea Alonzo, Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee.
At the ball, she wore a flowing black one-shoulder drape gown by designer Inno Sotto.
It was a very simple, clean and elegant dress that dramatically set off her dangling diamond earrings and a diamond-studded cuff bracelet.
In one hand she toted a blue satin clutch from Philip Treacy.
(Yes, the same Philip Treacy who made most of the hats seen at the wedding of Duke William and Duchess Catherine of Cambridge.)
In Magkaribal, Gretchen played a fashion model-turned-designer, an image she also aimed to exude that evening.
Gretchen said she wanted a look that would represent her roots as a fashion model more than as an actress.
So, she asked her makeup artist friend Patrick Rosas to work his magic with smoky eyes and red lips.
"Tonight, gusto namin medyo dark yung eyes.
"I wanted to come more as a fashion model than an actress. 'Yon ang aking parang illusion tonight," she said to reporters when asked about her striking eye makeup.
Gretchen started out her modeling career as young as 12-years-old before finally dipping into showbiz in the film 14 Going Steady in 1984.
She will soon star in another ABS-CBN series entitled Alta opposite Angelica Panganiban and KC Concepcion.
