Professional model-turned-actor Victor Aliwalas was spotted hosting the Energizer Night Race November 5 at the open grounds of Mercato Centrale in Bonifacio Global City.
A mainstay of the GMA-7 series Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin, it was a nice surprise to see him holding a mic and hosting an event for a change.
The night race aims to raise funds and buy hearing aids for the beneficiaries of the Kapuso Foundation.
"It also promotes fitness and a healthy lifestyle," says Victor, a health buff.
As a model and TV personality, how does he keep in shape?
"I'm inconsistent. Sometimes I go to the gym every day. [I do] circuit training and boxing," he reveals.
Sometimes he would go for weeks without exercise.
"Depende talaga. Kasi if you're sobrang puyat sa taping, it's hard [to work out]. It really depends on your work load.
"But as long as you eat healthy, you can stay fit," he says.
So what does Victor consider proper nutrition?
"I always try to eat whole wheat whenever possible, fruits like bananas, oranges, apples, and vegetables.
"I love pork, but I try to avoid it.
"And every day dapat may multi-vitamins."
He explains that even if people work out like crazy, but eat only 25 percent of the right food, "or eat crap, hindi maganda yun," he says.
"Mas importante talaga yung pagkain kaysa workout.
"Pero dapat sabay," he stresses.
"Kailangan mo rin ng carbs. I hate it when people say 'Oh, I don't eat rice.'
"Dapat balanced diet: fruits, vegetables and clean protein like chicken breast, hard-boiled eggs.
"I avoid [anything] fried."
How does he resist the sumptuous eat-all-you-can buffet in hotels?
"Siyempre, kain ako nang kain. But I eat healthy," Victor says.
"I eat a lot of salad. I eat a lot of sushi.
"The good meat. Daming vegetables.
"Siyempre I also have dessert. It's hard to give up dessert. I always have dessert, may sweet tooth ako e!"
