Sheena Halili: from shopaholic to practical buyer

Sheena Halili's fashion favorites include comfortable pieces like sleeveless tops, shorts, and high-heeled shoes in different colors. She used to have a lot of them in her closet— some remain unused. But the actress had recently decided to sell most of her stuff in a bazaar, and also changed her shopping ways in order to save for a townhouse.

Sheena Halili used to abide by her shopping philosophy, "If the shoe fits, buy it."

But these days, she swore about transforming into a reformed shopaholic.

"Kasi maliit iyong paa ko, nasa 5 or 4, so hirap akong bumili ng sapatos; kaya kapag may nagkasya, binibili ko na," she said in an exclusive interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last month.

The 25-year-old Pampangueña has always deemed her fashion finds—be it shoes, clothes, or accessories—as "investments."

As a showbiz personality, she feels the need to stock up on a lot of pieces because she'll never know when she'll need a specific outfit for a certain occasion.

Aside from her colorful shoe collection, she also used to own quite a number of clothes—mostly in loud prints and colors.

But of late, the Kapuso actress found herself at a crossroads.

Looking back, she now realizes thagt there isn't much value to all the fashion items she had bought out of her showbiz income in the last eight years.

"Ang gusto ko talaga ngayon is makabili ng bahay," said the actress, who has been renting an apartment in Quezon City for the longest time.

In order to have enough funds to buy that dream home—a modern-style townhouse—she decided to cut down on her fashion-related expenses.

Sheena sold a lot of her old stuff like jeans and shirts in a celebrity bazaar last September 2011.

What used to be her "luho" is now more of a necessity.

The Starstruck alumna explained, "So hindi na ako iyong suweldo ngayon 'tapos ipang-sho-shoppping.

Although she still frequents shops like Zara, Mango, and Topshop whenever she goes to malls, Sheena no longer hoards like she used to.

She's also more inclined to buying classic pieces that can be styled in more ways than one, and changing her color preference to white and neutral.

And given her busy schedule, she began relying on a stylist, who now tells her what to wear.
