Cristine Reyes talks about love for shoes

Cristine Reyes on why she chose to live in the South area: "Yun naman yung gusto kong puntahan palagi 'pag gusto kong mag-unwind..." But according to her, boyfriend Rayver Cruz—who resides in Parañaque City—has nothing to do with her decision.

Cristine Reyes is evolving.

By now, her multitude of fans of all genders know that there is more to the actress's milky and flawless skin, bedimpled cheek, striking eyes, and fearless expression.

Her feisty role as Charmaine in 2011's box office hit No Other Woman has made her even more popular.

But off camera, Cristine appears to be more toned-down and mellow these days.

She admits doing less daring pictorials, and says it has nothing to do with the close-to-perfect relationship she has with real-life boyfriend Rayver Cruz.

"No," she says with much certainty in her voice. "[It's] my personal choice.

"Kasi siguro dati wala akong ginawa kung 'di mag-pictorial nang mag-pictorial, mag-pose nang mag-pose nang sexy.

"So, for a change naman, 'di ba? At least 'di ba nakita na yung other side [ko]... [Ngayon] hindi naman puro sexy... Kasi lagi na lang puro sexy, 'di ba?"

At her photo shoot with Mags— a trendy and youthful clothing line that takes pride and pleasure in having Cristine as their model— the 23-year-old actress looked very pretty sans bared shoulders and thighs.

She says the pieces from Mags cater to her taste— "merong sweet, merong pang-formal, merong casual, andun na lahat!"

But if she were to describe her style, she's unpredictable and varied.

"Akotalaga, yung style ko, may pagka-moody. Minsan conservative, minsan revealing, minsan naman sweet. So, [it's] very me."

She mentions her love for shoes...any shoes!

The younger sister of Ara Mina resumes, "A, walang particular brand. Basta makita ko na bagay or kaya maganda or unique, binibili ko...

"Meron akong branded, meron akong cheap, so, iba-iba."

Like any wise fashionista, she goes for the essential pieces: "basics—flats, heels, pumps."

But she's planning to add leather and rubber shoes to her collection, "kasi yun yung wala ako...puro heels, puro flats yung meron ako."

A NEWFOUND INDEPENDENCE. She turned 23 last February 5.

And her only birthday wish is "good health," since she has already achieved one of her goals: buy her own house.

She tells PEP, "Natapos na yung bahay ko! Super na-stress talaga ako sa bahay ko. Pero ngayon okay na ako.

"Kasi ano, e, gusto ko na mag-move out."

Was there a need to?

"Wala, gusto ko ma-feel yung [maging] independent na talaga.

"Kasi well, two years ago, independent ako pero neighbor ko yung Mommy ko kasi binili ko yung unit niya, e.

"So, neighbor kami, 'di ba? Binili ko yung unit niya, bumili ako ng unit ko na townhouse. Parang hindi pa rin, e. Gusto ko talaga mag-solo."

At present, she and her mother are north and south apart. But she explainsthat it's"not really para maging malayo sa's because gusto ko yung atmosphere sa South."

Cristine wants "privacy" whenever she's out of the limelight. And this is the reason why she chose to live far from ABS-CBN.

The VIVA talent affirms, "Malayo sa showbiz world. Hindi ko sinasabi na ayoko ng showbiz world. Ang sinasabi ko is, gusto ko ng 'pag nasa bahay ako, tahimik. Pahinga lang."

Plus, in the South area, "andun na lahat: food, all kinds of restaurants, movie houses, salons, lahat andun na.

"So, parang hindi na ako dapat magpunta ng Quezon City.

"Sa Quezon City kasi, hiwa-hiwalay, e. Hiwalay-hiwalay lahat ng kailangan kong puntahan, e."

Wasn't her decision influenced by Rayver, who lives in Parañaque?

"Before pa, I have friends sa South na. So before ko pa makilala si Rayver, kami ng mga kaibigan ko, lagi kaming nagro-road trip sa South... puro Tagaytay, puro South.

"So, 'di ba? Sa'n pa ako? Alangan naman bumili ako ng bahay sa north, e pupunta ako nang pupunta sa south?"
