TV personality Iya Villania proved that getting fit can also be fun when she hosted the Nestle Fitnesse Shape Up Night at the NBC Tent, Bonifacio Global City on March 31.
Around 300 fitness fanatics came to party with the sexy MYX music channel VJ, and international fitness specialist David Velez, who led the crowd in a four-hour Zumba dance marathon.
Zumba is the hottest dance fitness craze to hit Philippine shores—a fun, effective way to lose weight by combining Latin dance moves and international music in one workout system.
The event was a unique showcase of all things fit and healthy, with some stalls selling workout gear, stations giving free two-minute health exams, and food booths serving cereals and milk instead of the usual cocktails and booze seen at parties.
It also turned into a “glow in the dark” party as the evening coincided with the annual Earth Hour project—an environmental cause that aims to help Mother Nature through reduced use of electricity by turning off all electric lights for 60 minutes.
Partygoers spent the first hour of the evening dancing under the illumination of black lights and neon glow sticks.
The rest of the night turned out to be one of the best workout sessions ever for the participants who went home happy after hitting two birds with one stone—they all got to party the night away while staying fit and healthy at the same time.
